OpenVMS ALPMANA02_071 Alpha V7.1__V7.1-1 SMI$SHR ECO Summary
TITLE: OpenVMS ALPMANA02_071 Alpha V7.1__V7.1-1 SMI$SHR ECO Summary
Modification Date: 14-AUG-2000
Modification Type: Updated Kit: Supersedes ALPMANA01_071
NOTE: An OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file is stored
on the Internet in a self-expanding compressed file.
For OpenVMS savesets, the name of the compressed saveset
file will be kit_name.a-dcx_vaxexe for OpenVMS VAX or
kit_name.a-dcx_axpexe for OpenVMS Alpha. Once the OpenVMS
saveset is copied to your system, expand the compressed
saveset by typing RUN kitname.dcx_vaxexe or kitname.dcx_alpexe.
For PCSI files, once the PCSI file is copied to your system,
rename the PCSI file to kitname-dcx_axpexe.pcsi, then it can
be expanded by typing RUN kitname-dcx_axpexe.pcsi. The resultant
file will be the PCSI installation file which can be used to install
the ECO.

ECO KIT SUMMARY:
An ECO kit exists for SMI$SHR on OpenVMS Alpha V7.1 through V7.1-1H2.
This kit addresses the following problems:
Problems Addressed in the ALPMANA02_071 Kit:
o Shutting down a node that shares cluster system files on
shadowed disks results in shadow merge operations at reboot.
The security server process keeps files open for performance
reasons.
Images Affected: [SYSEXE]SHUTDOWN.COM
Problems Addressed in the ALPMANA01_071 Kit:
o Make the SYSMAN security profile consistent clusterwide.
SYSMAN security profile is supposed to be identical on all nodes
in a cluster that use the same security environment. SYSMAN could
use the authorize privileges from the UAF, instead of the locally
set privileges on some nodes.
For example, for a cluster named CLUSTER, node NODE1 should have
same privilege settings as another node in the cluster, NODE2.
SYSMAN> set env/clus
%SYSMAN-I-ENV, current command environment:
Clusterwide on local cluster
Username SYSTEM (*** will be used on non-local nodes)
