If the system is having the problems described in the documentation for the VAXSYS02_062 ECO, please obtain that kit to apply to the system. ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for the License Management Facility (LMF) for testing date limited Product Authorization Keys (PAKs) on OpenVMS VAX V5.5-2 through V7.1 and OpenVMS Alpha V6.2 through 7.1-1H2. o DIGITAL is pleased to provide the OpenVMS Alpha and OpenVMS VAX LMF Y2000 Test Patch in support of Year 2000 testing. The Test Patch is only required by a limited number of customers who participate in special marketing programs that issue "date limited" software PAKs. - Overview The OpenVMS LMF Y2000 Test Patch, together with the OpenVMS LMF Y2000 Test PAK, enable "date limited" DIGITAL software product PAKs to be used in Year 2000 test environments. The functionality enabled by the patch and corresponding PAK is provided as a courtesy to DIGITAL licensed customers for testing of DIGITAL software products. This patch may be duplicated and used for each CPU in a Year 2000 test environment. - Who Needs the OpenVMS LMF Y2000 Test Patch and PAK? Only a limited number of customers require the Y2000 Test Patch and PAK. If you are setting up a Year 2000 testing environment which includes software products for which you have special program "date limited" PAKs issued by DIGITAL, you will need the Y2000 Test Patch and PAK. Only a single patch and PAK is required regardless of the number of products being tested. Most DIGITAL issued software license PAKs are NOT "date limited" and, therefore, a Y2000 Test Patch and PAK is NOT required. To verify if your software product PAKs are "date limited", check the "PAK Termination Date" field in the system's LMF database. This can be checked by using one of the following commands: * For versions V5.5-2, V5.5-2H4: LICENSE LIST/FULL * For all other versions: LICENSE LIST/FULL/TERMINATION=1-JAN-2000/BEFORE NOTE: This command will specifically look for all PAKS that are date limited. The /TERMINATION and /BEFORE switches are not supported on OpenVMS VAX V5.5-2*. If the "PAK Termination Date" field is blank, your PAK is NOT "date limited" and a Y2000 Test Patch and PAK is NOT required. If a date prior to January 1, 2000 is printed in this field, a Y2000 Test Patch and PAK IS required for Year 2000 testing purposes. - How does the OpenVMS LMF Y2000 Test Patch and PAK work? * Scope: The OpenVMS LMF Y2000 Test Patch and PAK are available for OpenVMS VAX V5.5-2, V6.2, and V7.1 and OpenVMS Alpha V6.2, V6.2-1H1, V6.2-1H2, V6.2-1H3, V7.1, V7.1-1H1 and V7.1-1H2. * Applicable Products: The OpenVMS LMF Y2000 Test Patch and PAK enable Year 2000 testing for DIGITAL software products. * Test Environment: The OpenVMS LMF Y2000 Test Patch and PAK enable Year 2000 testing for DIGITAL software products when the system clock(s) in the test environment are set between January 1, 2000 and March 30, 2000. The release date and termination date set on the LMF Y2000 Test PAK will be: - Release Date = December 30, 1999 - Termination Date = March 30, 2000 * To enable Year 2000 testing with "date limited" PAKs: - Assure that the "date limited" PAKs are installed on the test system (see loading restriction below). - Register and load the Y2000 Test PAK in the license database. - Install the Y2000 Test Patch on the test system(s). - Set the system clock to a date between December 30, 1999 and March 30, 2000. - Upon completion of the above steps, any DIGITAL software enabled with a "date limited" PAK will continue to function for Year 2000 testing. + Loading restriction: Terminated licenses on the test system cannot be loaded using the OpenVMS System Management utility (SYSMAN) using normal SYSMAN license commands. If SYSMAN must be used to load the licenses, please use the SYSMAN>DO LICENSE LOAD command instead of the SYSMAN> LICENSE LOAD command. - How do I obtain the OpenVMS LMF Y2000 Test PAK? Y2000 Test PAKs, which enable the functionality of the Y2000 Test Patch, are obtained by contacting the marketing program office responsible for issuing the special program "date limited" PAK. Additional information and websites of the program offices can be obtained through the DIGITAL Year 2000/Millennium Program website at http://www.digital.com/year2000/. INSTALLATION NOTES: In order for the corrections in this kit to take effect, the system must be rebooted. If the system is a member of a VMScluster, the entire cluster should be rebooted.
