OpenVMS ALPMAIL01_061 Alpha V6.1 - V6.1-1H2 MAIL ECO Summary

Copyright (c) Digital Equipment Corporation 1995. All rights reserved. PRODUCT: OpenVMS Alpha COMPONENT: MAIL SOURCE: Digital Equipment Corporation ECO INFORMATION: ECO Kit Name: ALPMAIL01_061 ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: None ECO Kit Approximate Size: 1350 Blocks Kit Applies To: OpenVMS Alpha V6.1, V6.1-1H1, V6.1-1H2 System/Cluster Reboot Necessary: No ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for MAIL on OpenVMS Alpha V6.1 through V6.1-1H2. This kit addresses the following problems: o If mail is sent to a user from more than 1 source within a 10 millisecond interval, the following errors occur: %MAIL-E-SENDERR, error sending to username USERNAME -MAIL-W-WRITERR, error writing DISK:[USER_DIRECTORY]MAIL.MAI;1 -RMS-F-DUP, duplicate key detected (DUP not set) This problem is corrected in OpenVMS Alpha V6.2. o When two processes are accessing the same folder in the same mail file (one writing messages to it, the other updating message headers), the program that is updating message headers will fail with either: %MAIL-W-WRITEERR then %MAIL-F-CODERR, or %MAIL-W-READERR then %SYSTEM-F-ACCVIO Only the ACCVIO will be seen if the VAXMAIL02_061 kit has been installed, or the updating process is on an Alpha system running OpenVMS V6.1 This can occur using either callable MAIL or MAIL commands in a DCL command procedure. This is commonly reproducible on, but not limited to, a VAXstation 3100 running V6.0 or V6.1. This problem is corrected in OpenVMS Alpha V6.2 o Applications that use the MAIL$ callable mail API may crash due to insufficient virtual memory. INSTALLATION NOTES: The system/cluster does not need to be rebooted after this kit is installed.
