ACMS ADINTE423 ACMS Desktop for OpenVMS on Windows NT V2.3 ECO Summary

TITLE: ACMS ADINTE423 ACMS Desktop for OpenVMS on Windows NT V2.3 ECO Summary Copyright (c) Digital Equipment Corporation 1998. All rights reserved. Modification Date: 01-JUL-1998 Modification Type: New ECO Kit PRODUCT: ACMS Desktop for OpenVMS Windows NT OP/SYS: Windows NT SOURCE: Digital Equipment Corporation ECO INFORMATION: ECO Kit Name: ADINTE423 ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: None ECO Kit Approximate Size: 162816 Bytes (318 Blocks) ADINTE423.EXE - 159744 Bytes (312 Blocks) Kit Applies To: ACMS Desktop V2.3 for OpenVMS Windows NT V3.51 through V4.0 System/Cluster Reboot Necessary: No ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for ACMS Desktop for OpenVMS V2.3 on Windows NT V3.51 through V4.0. This kit addresses the following problems: PROBLEMS ADDRESSED IN ADINTE423: o Data compression, when activated, will not compress any workspace longer than 32K bytes. ACMSDI$DCM lists these workspaces as uncompressable even though they should have been compressed. Solution: The compress program is using an unsigned 16-bit integer to keep track of the number of bytes remaining to be compressed. Therefore values greater than 32K appeared to be negative. The program, thinking that there were no bytes left to compress and that no bytes had been compressed, considered the workspace uncompressable. A fix was applied to change the 16-bit integer to a 32-bit integer. This fixed the problem. INSTALLATION NOTES: Only install the new client if data compression will be used. If the new client is installed, then the new server must also be installed on the appropriate OpenVMS system. For a Windows NT installation of ACMS Desktop V2.3 ECO4 (ADINTE423.EXE) please follow the following instructions: ADINTE423.EXE is a self-extracting file. Copy ADINTE423.EXE to a clean subdirectory on the PC using image or binary mode. The files can be expanded either from a DOS window or from Explorer. From a DOS window, type "ADINTE423.EXE". From Explorer, double click on the file. Three files will be expanded from ADINTE423.EXE: ACMSDIWS.DLL (TCP/IP) ACMSDIDN.DLL (DECnet) ACMSDI023_ECO4.RELEASE_NOTES Copy the appropriate dll to the appropriate subdirectory on the PC. Rename the dll to ACMSDI.DLL.
