SNA_PU5-UNIX SNAPU5_UE02020 SNA Domain Gateway V2.0 UNIX ECO Summary

Copyright (c) Digital Equipment Corporation 1996, 1997. All rights reserved. PRODUCT: DEC SNA Domain Gateway-CT DEC SNA Domain Gateway-ST OP/SYS: Digital UNIX[R] (formerly called DEC OSF/1) SOURCE: Digital Equipment Corporation ECO INFORMATION: ECO Kit Name: SNAPU5_UE02020 ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: SNAPU5_UE01020 ECO Kit Approximate Size: 8900 Blocks 4556800 Bytes Kit Applies To: DEC SNA Domain Gateway V2.0 Digital UNIX V2.1 through V4.0 System/Cluster Reboot Necessary: No ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for DEC SNA Domain Gateway V2.0 on Digital UNIX V2.1 through V4.0. This kit addresses the following problems: Problems Addressed in the SNAPU5_UE02020 Kit: o Fixed a hang with access routines connecting to the Domain Gateway. The problem was seen from Digital UNIX V4.0 and Windows NT systems. The IP "Do Not Fragment" indication was incorrectly interpreted by the Domain Gateway. The complete IP datagram was treated as a fragment, thus the infinite wait. Problems Addressed in the SNAPU5_UE01020 Kit: o Updated Operating System and Network software supported versions to include Digital UNIX V4.0 and OpenVMS VAX V6.2 with related DECnet/OSI supported versions. o DTF for Digital UNIX is now supported over the Domain Gateway via TCP/IP connections. o Fixed erroneous NSP "invalid message format" logging on sink node. o Fixed a problem with NSP connections using segment flow control. o Fixed CTF tracing from DECnet/OSI on OpenVMS VAX. o Fixed TCP/IP Domain Gateway crash seen when the OpenVMS access routines disconnected improperly. A LES LPD was deallocated twice. A subsequent LPD allocation would cause the crash. This could happen from other access routines as well, but has only been seen with DTF for Digital UNIX. o Fixed a TCP/IP potential memory leak in GASP. o Fixed a TCP/IP hang on inbound file transfers. o Fixed a bugcheck in path control, SAPC. o Fixed a bugcheck in LUMGR. o LES V3 access violation fixed. o DSRLST error parsing control vectors fixed. More information regarding the nature of these problems can be found in the ECO kit's release notes, SNAPU5202.release_notes. INSTALLATION NOTES: Note that this is a complete kit. The current version of the Domain Gateway MUST be deleted before installing this ECO. Removing the subsets will not remove your configuration files. However, it is suggested you create copies to prevent accidental removal. Save copies of your current (cmip, ncl, icu) configuration files before installing this ECO kit to another directory. The ECO kit is distributed as a tar file, SNAPU5_UE02020.TAR, containing the kit which can be installed using the setld command. The tar file should be unpacked to a suitable directory and then the setld command issued specifying that directory as the source of the kit. For example, if the tar file containing the kit has been copied to /usr/tmp/snapu5.tar: # mkdir /usr/tmp/snapu5 # cd /usr/tmp/snapu5 # tar xf /usr/tmp/snapu5.tar # setld -l . If the kit is delivered on tap11 then the commands would be: # mkdir /usr/tmp/snapu5 # cd /usr/tmp/snapu5 # tar x # setld -l . The Domain Gateway must be reloaded for fixes to be made operational. The gateway need not be reconfigured. [R] UNIX is a registered trademark in the United States and other countries licensed exclusively through X/Open Company Limited
