PW-OSF PWUNIX_ECO261B PATHWORKS for COMPAQ'S Tru64 UNIX V6.1B ECO

TITLE: PW-OSF PWUNIX_ECO261B PATHWORKS for COMPAQ'S Tru64 UNIX V6.1B ECO Modification Date: 17-AUG-99 Modification Type: Updated Kit Supersedes PWUNIX_ECO161B Copyright (c) Compaq Computer Corporation 1999. All rights reserved. PRODUCT: PATHWORKS for COMPAQ'S Tru64 UNIX OP/SYS: COMPAQ'S Tru64 UNIX[R] SOURCE: Compaq Computer Corporation ECO INFORMATION: ECO Kit Name: PWUNIX_ECO261B ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: PWUNIX_ECO161B ECO Kit Approximate Size: 117460 Blocks Kit Applies To: PATHWORKS for COMPAQ'S Tru64 UNIX V6.1b COMPAQ'S Tru64 UNIX V4.0 ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for PATHWORKS for COMPAQ'S Tru64 UNIX V6.1b on COMPAQ'S Tru64 UNIX V4.0. Problems addressed in the PWUNIX_ECO261b kit: Description/Symptoms (LanManager) ==================== o The conversion of a file's modification time in the response of the open SMB is now performed correctly. o Unaligned access warnings when configuring PATHWORKS with the chgrp and samadm utilities have been corrected. o A transport will not be started when the controller type is specified as "none". o A file that was copied from a read-only file to a PATHWORKS share can now be modified unless the new file is explicitly set as read- only. Description/Symptoms (Netware) ==================== o The hang in the pmonitor utility has been corrected. o A panic of ncp_engine due to an invalid calculation dependent on an Advanced Server parameter has been fixed. The panic occurred when the PATHWORKS service was relocated from one system to another in an ASE TruCluster system. o A panic of the RPRINTER program due to alignment problems with the spxII driver has been fixed. Problems addressed in the PWUNIX_ECO161b kit: o A T_DISCONNECT is pending, the transport resources will not be consumed until none are available for connections. o The printer sub-system returns the error code that indicates that the requested print destination does not exist when the print destination is not found in /etc/printcap. o A negative position request in a file seek SMB will position the file at the beginning and return success. o Increased the robustness of oplocks. o The user is now warned when copying to an existing directory on a PATHWORKS share. o The size of the hash table in an ACL file is now a power of 2. This increases the performance of the server when processing ACL's. o The acladm utility will now accept ACL's that have NULL pointers to either Discretionary ACL's or Security ACL's. o The capability to turn on and off Debug Trace (logging) while the server is running has been reenabled. o Delete permissions are included in the created shares for an initial installation of PATHWORKS or an upgrade. For shares that were saved from a previous version of PATHWORKS, the permissions are unchanged. o The Rename SMB used by Microsoft Word for Windows 95 will set the same ACL (which didn't have a System Security Descriptor) twice without returning failure to the client. o An error is now returned by the NT Create&X SMB when the path named was a directory and the flags indicated that this should not be a directory. o A network with many domains can now be successfully browsed. o Servers that belong to the current domain and are on a different subnet (LAN) than the server/domain where net view or pwadmin are attached to are displayed. o A "#PRE" entry in the lmhosts file is now properly cached. Browsing across a WAN with a trusted account can now be performed. o A UNIX account created by Advanced Server for UNIX will now be initially locked. The lock will have to be reset before a user can login directly to the UNIX account. o A month, day and year field is now processed correctly for years following 2000. o The name of a file on a PATHWORKS share can now be changed to a longer name with Windows NT. INSTALLATION NOTES: The PATHWORKS for COMPAQ'S Tru64 UNIX 6.1B kit is a complete kit that you install by using the setld utility. You must deinstall PATHWORKS for COMPAQ'S Tru64 UNIX subsets that were previously installed. See the PATHWORKS for COMPAQ'S Tru64 UNIX Installation and Administration guide for more information.
