DXML-dUNIX DXML_RT_E01A033 Extended Math Library V3.3A ECO Summary

Copyright (c) Digital Equipment Corporation 1998. All rights reserved. Modification Date: 01-JUN-1998 Modification Type: New ECO kit PRODUCT: DIGITAL Extended Math Library OP/SYS: DIGITAL UNIX COMPONENT: XMRLOA331 - Serial library XMRPLL331 - Parallel library SOURCE: Digital Equipment Corporation ECO INFORMATION: ECO Kit Name: DXML_RT_E01A033 ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: None ECO Kit Approximate Size: 81873 Blocks TAR file: 81860 Blocks Kit Applies To: DIGITAL Extended Math Library for DIGITAL UNIX V3.3A DIGITAL UNIX V3.0 through V4.0D System/Cluster Reboot Necessary: No ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for DIGITAL Extended Math Library V3.3A on on DIGITAL UNIX V3.0 through V4.0D. This kit addresses the following problems: o The script that executes the IVP tests after installing the parallel development subset (XMRPLL331) neglected to set the PARALLEL environment variable. When the parallel DXML library was installed on a uniprocessor platform running Digital UNIX V4.0D, the IVP tests never completed. The IVP scripts in this ECO Release fix this problem. o The IVP test executables had been constructed by linking against the DXML library before installation. They verified the contents of the DXML library, but not that the DXML library installed correctly. The IVP test executables in this ECO Release verify the newly-installed DXML library. o The installation script for the serial run-time subset (XMRLOA331) had a test that was too restrictive, and consequently misidentified certain CPU types. The user sometimes had to override the choice of DXML library (EV-4 vs EV-5) to be installed. The installation script in this ECO Release fixes this problem. o The installation scripts that construct the shared serial and parallel DXML libraries had a problem. The serial (XMRLOA331) and parallel (XMRPLL331) subset installation scripts always included special math libraries that have become part of the system libm in newer releases of Digital UNIX. This led to "duplicate definition" warnings under some circumstances. The installation scripts in this ECO Release fix this problem. INSTALLATION NOTES: You need approximately 55 megabytes of disk space to install both DXML subsets. After installation, the disk space requirements are as follows: o Serial library - 12 megabytes o Parallel library - 15 megabytes
