DCE-OSF DCEECO132 DCE V1.3, 1.3.1 for DEC OSF/1 ECO Summary

Copyright (c) Digital Equipment Corporation 1995. All rights reserved. PRODUCT: Digital Distributed Computing Versions 1.3, 1.3.1 OP/SYS: OSF/1 V3.0 SOURCE: Digital Equipment Corporation ECO INFORMATION: ECO Kit Name: DCEECO132 ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: DCEECO131 ECO Kit Approximate Size: 6420480 bytes System Reboot Necessary: See Release Notes ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for Digital Distributing Computing Environment (DCE) Versions 1.3, 1.3.1 on OSF/1 V3.0. The release notes contain a complete explanation of the problems addressed in this ECO. The kit is cumulative. Briefly, the following problems are addressed in DCEECO132: o Added fix for the "cdscp dump clerk cache" command. o Fixed memory allocation failure in libdce.so. o Included new sec_clientd to fix interaction with DCE/SIA. o Fixed DFS upserver and uplcient that caused them to consume excessive CPU time. o Fixed several smaller DFS bugs including fts dump/restore problems on UFS-based dfs filesets (see Release Notes for details). o Added C++ support to the IDL compiler. o Patched dts_ntp_provider vulnerability disclosed by SATAN. o Fixed an rpcd bug that could cause the wrong server to be chosen if more than one server exported the same interface (but with differing object UUIDs). o Fixes which were included in ECO #1 (see Release Notes for complete details). Problems addressed in ECO1: o Fixed cdsd and gdad "can't grow stack" error with resulting core dumps. o Fixed a signal problem when stopping a DCE client application. Stopping the DCE client application could kill the cdsadv daemon. o Fixed problem using unsupported protocol sequences when obtaining binding. o Fixed two header files so they can be compiled with varying options. o Fixed cdsclerk so a calling DCE application and its associated cdsclerk threads do not hang. In this state, the cdsclerk will respond to other application requests. o Updated DCE Security so that it is compatible with future releases of OSF DCE Release 1.2. o Update the configuration tool dcesetup so a Digital DCE V1.3 based system can join a Windows-NT based DCE cell. o Fixed the configuration tool dcesetup to correctly identify when DECnet is running. o Fixed a DFS data corruption bug. o Fixed a 'dfsbind' bug that would cause it to hang under load. o Fixed several smaller DFS bugs (see Release Notes for details). o If DCE/SIA is enabled, the user will no longer be able to give a bad shell name to 'chsh'. o Removed command 'dtscp set courier role noncourier' from configuration. o Included alternate 'sendmail' and 'mailstats' programs to fix interaction with DCE/SIA.
