SNA_TE SNATE_E03017 DECNET/SNA Terminal Emulator V1.7 ECO
TITLE: SNA_TE SNATE_E03017 DECNET/SNA Terminal Emulator V1.7 ECO
NOTE: An OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file is stored
on the Internet in a self-expanding compressed file.
The name of the compressed file will be kit_name-dcx_vaxexe
for OpenVMS VAX or kit_name-dcx_axpexe for OpenVMS Alpha.
Once the file is copied to your system, it can be expanded
by typing RUN compressed_file. The resultant file will
be the OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file which
can be used to install the ECO.

ECO KIT SUMMARY:
An ECO kit exists for DECNET/SNA Terminal Emulator for OpenVMS V1.7
on OpenVMS V6.2 through V7.2.
Problems addressed in the SNATE_E03017 kit:
o Access Violation After a Reconnect Attempt Issued
An ACCVIO would occur when the application tries to perform
a reconnect, for example, when the remote IBM becomes
unavailable. This would occur while using VMS/SNA as a gateway.
It was caused by the session block no longer being available or
the receive buffer having been deallocated.
o Isolated Pacing Response Not Being Processed Causing Hang
When an IPR was received, and there are no receives outstanding,
the pacing state was not being set properly. This led to a hang
in the application after the pacing window was exhausted. An
additional fix was also needed to properly handle Expedited IPR's.
The following error was displayed:
%SNATERM-F-UNKRSPREC, unexpected response received
o Connecting With The TCP Transport Would Fail
As a connection is being established, the sequence of transports
(default order is Local, DECnet and TCP) is tried. If one
transport fails, the subsequent transports would also fail.
This problem has been corrected.
o Added Support For The Local Transport On The OpenVMS Alpha
Platform.
Added support for the Local transport on the OpenVMS Alpha
platform. This will enable local users to connect to Compaq
SNA Server without using a network connection. This is similar
to OpenVMS VAX local users connections to VMS/SNA.
Example: $SET HOST/SNA 0.
o Access Violation Upon Use Of Playback Function
When a recorded sequence contained "Enter" key code followed
by any other key code(s), the SNATE would not perform playing
back properly and would fail displaying the access violation
message.
The bug has been fixed.
o Error Opening Key Sequences File During Record Operation
When upon calling Record function, if an illegal key, rather
than PF1-PF24 is pressed down, the key sequences file becomes
locked forever and upon call of Playback/Record function the
SNATE displays the following message:
%SNATERM-E-OPESEQF, error opening key sequences file
-RMS-E-FLK, file currently locked by another user
The bug has been fixed.
Problems addressed in the SNATE_E02017 kit:

Problems addressed in the SNATE_E01017 kit:
o SNATE Returns INVTRMPAR Error
When the SET HOST/SNA command is executed from a TELNET'ed
terminal the TE would return the following error:
%SNATERM-E-ACCROUFAI, error from Gateway access routine
-SNA-E-INVTRMPAR, invalid authterm parameter
-SNA-E-LENTOOLON, transmit byte count exceeds buffer length
The maximum length of a terminal ID is 32 bytes for GAP V2.1
and was being exeeded. This has been corrected.
INSTALLATION NOTES:
This ECO kit is installed with the VMSINSTAL command procedure.
After the installation is completed the product should be restarted
per the User's Guide installation instructions, to make the new
software active.
To make the terminal emulator shareable each time the system reboots,
you must add the following line to your system startup procedure:
$ @SYS$STARTUP:SNATE$STARTUP
