ECO KIT SUMMARY:
An ECO kit exists for PATHWORKS for OpenVMS V5.0C for OpenVMS (LAN Manager)
and PATHWORKS V1.0C for Open VMS (Netware) on OpenVMS VAX V5.5-2 or later
or OpenVMS AXP V6.1 or later. This kit addresses the following problems:
Problems Corrected in PATHWORKS V5.0C for OpenVMS (LAN Manager)
---------------------------------------------------------------
ECO 03 PATHWORKS V5.0C problems operating on Alpha 8400 systems
have been corrected.
During the V5.0C upgrade procedure, as user accounts are merged,
the new LAN Manager user accounts have undefined passwords.
Before the user can make a connection, the password has
to be manually set. This problem has been corrected.
The implementation of OpenVMS file names, which restricts
the file name to 39 characters or less, is modified in
the V5.0C EC03 release to a 70 character limit.
Problems in PATHWORKS V5.0C ECO2 printing from Windows V3.1
have been corrected.
ECO 02 NET PASSWORD fails to change OpenVMS passwords
in a NT Domain
Security Upgrade crashes or fails to find files
File Server crashes due to Multiple Sessions from
NT Workstation Clients
System crash in streams/NetBEUI due to signed NBTIMER
Server fails to startup with "Unexpected Condition
(2C) Abort" error
License Manager unable to view large number of clients
International Characters in client node name cause
License server to crash
Seeks from end-of-file failures on FAT Volumes
File Server hangs due to corrupt ACL information in FAT
volumes
File Server hangs when reading DOS V3.x and V4.x
container files created using PATHWORKS V4.x server
Files with a .DIR filename extension unaccessible from
client
File server crashes when accessing files with over
16*512 bytes of ACL information on ODS-2 volumes
Extraneous "FIDInvalidateEntry" errors in server log
file
Unable to print files from DOS and Windows due to "Disk
Full" and/or "Lock violations" errors
Unable to print due to incorrect error code from
file server for unsupported IOCTL request
Server crash when executing NET ACCESS/GRANT command
NET Password command causes access violation when
using OpenVMS Generated passwords
Unable to enumerate large Share database in Admin/PATH
interface due to LAN Manager 64Kbyte per API limit
System crash and/or system performance degradation due
to Exhaustion of Non-paged Pool caused by failure to
deallocate IRP extensions in PCI cluster driver
License Server Fails to startup
System crash in streams kernelasynchandler
File modification times incorrect on files modified
from NT 3.5 Workstation clients
System crash due to Pool Corruption
Fix errors in PWRK$ADMIN_0_.log file

System crash when NetBEUI client sends data before
Session setup is complete
ADMIN/PATH UI crashes while adding print Share
"Sharing violations" reported when attempting to
create/open files in WordPerfect and other applications
(See release notes for further details)
ECO 01 Remote boot failures when multiple clients attempt to boot
simultaneously
PWRK$LMMCP and PWRK$LMSRV processes both dump on V5.0C
Server hangs on startup and PWRK$LMSRV process shows high
CPU utilization
Connection limits on a share are not enforced cluster-wide
WFW/WNT clients unable to act as Master browser in a domain
with PATHWORKS V5 servers
System crash and/or port timeouts on server startup
Unable to access personal files in Backward Compatibility mode
OpenVMS security ACL's propagated from parent directory
occasionally ignored by the Server
Poor NetBEUI performance on VAX
Connectivity problems across TCP/IP subnets causing occasional
Net logon and license check failures
NT Servers using h-node NetBIOS feature unable to join in a
domain with PATHWORKS V5 Server
Unable to create personal shares using OpenVMS net command
Windows NT Workstation 3.5 unable to promote itself to master
browser
PATHWORKS server process crashes due to Windows NT
Workstation 3.5 Browser
Server fails to start, LMMCP and LMSRV processes crash
Problems Corrected in PATHWORKS V1.0C for OpenVMS (NetWare)
-----------------------------------------------------------
ECO 03 On volumes with the CHECK or CONDITIONAL security setting,
some hybrid users would be denied access to files that
they should be able to access.
Mounting a High Sierra or ISO-9660 format CDROM resulted
in an error indicating that the volume had not been added.
In SYSCON, when an account has more than 12 station
restrictions, the account could be accessed from unauthorized
stations.
On rare occasions, the file server would crash with an
ACCVIO in the HOST module.
Windows 95 client could not rename directories. This
also interfered with the ability to create a directory
with anything but the default name.
If an NetWare volume referenced an Infoserver CDROM drive
that was remounted with a new unit number, the server
would refuse to add the volume.
When a PATHWORKS client using NDIS drivers uses NVT to
connect to the OpenVMS server, the client would hang when
logging out of OpenVMS. In the ECO 03 kit the SYS volume
contains a new NVT.EXE image that solves the problem.
ECO 02 Files using FORTRAN carriage control missing
carriage return and line feed combinations
Print server crashes on OpenVMS V5.5-2 with
NWDetachQueueServerFromQueue error in logfile
NetWare File Server crashes; bad NCP messages
reported in log file
File Server crash running Ziff-Davis NetBench
benchmark tests
ECO 01 SAPD broadcast problem causing server unknown
errors when clients attempt to connect
DELTREE fails to delete all files/directories
