DEC PASCAL PASCAL_E2055 DEC PASCAL for OpenVMS Alpha V5.5 ECO Summary
NOTE: An OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file is stored
on the Internet in a self-expanding compressed file.
The name of the compressed file will be kit_name-dcx_vaxexe
for OpenVMS VAX or kit_name-dcx_axpexe for OpenVMS Alpha.
Once the file is copied to your system, it can be expanded
by typing RUN compressed_file. The resultant file will
be the OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file which
can be used to install the ECO.

ECO KIT SUMMARY:
An ECO kit exists for DEC PASCAL on OpenVMS Alpha V6.1 or higher. This
kit addresses the following problems:
o Incorrect code is generated when the SIZE builtin is used
with an operand containing a sub-string-access, for example
SIZE(pac[i..j]).
o When compiling with /ALIGN=Alpha_AXP or -ALIGN Alpha_AXP
(the default on Alpha systems), passing a schematic array
of VARYINGs to a conformant parameter does not always work.
o The compiler may generate errors when compiling source that
is on a remote NFS or DFS disk.
o An Internal Compiler Error occurred when the ADD_INTERLOCKED
builtin function was used in a logical expression.
o When initializing large ARRAYs with partial initial-state,
huge amounts of memory were used by the compiler. The
algorithm has been changed to improve performance.
o The NEXT and BITNEXT builtin functions returned the wrong
result for some schema types.
o While older versions of DEC Pascal work just fine on OpenVMS Alpha
V7.1 systems if installed before the system is upgraded,
the installation procedure would go into an infinite loop during
the creation of the STARLET.PAS file when being installed on a
OpenVMS Alpha V7.1 system. This installation problem is
corrected with this ECO.
INSTALLATION NOTES:
The system/cluster does not need to be rebooted after this kit is
installed.
However, if you are installing this ECO in a VMScluster environment, you
should invoke the SYS$STARTUP:PASCAL$STARTUP.COM command file on the
other nodes in the the cluster so the new compiler image will be
properly installed.
