After the installation of this ECO, the version of MMS will be V3.2-03. V3.2-02 supersedes the MMS V3.2-01 kit which shipped with DECset V12.2. System Reboot Necessary: No NOTE: In order to receive the full fixes listed in this kit, the following remedial kits also need to be installed: None ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for DEC MMS V3.2 on OpenVMS Alpha V6.1 or higher. This kit addresses the following problems: Problems Addressed in MMSAE02032: This ECO kit contains a fix to DIGITAL MMS for OpenVMS Alpha and its support for Oracle CDD. MMS V3.2-01 or V3.2-02 may return the following errors when processing a description file that contains references to CDD elements: $ MMS /DESCRIPTION= CDD-E-NOXFND, protocol not supported by translator: CDD$FORM MMS-F-CDDPLUSERR, Error returned from CDD/PLUS A lower version of MMS can process the identical description file without signalling errors. This problem has been corrected allowing MMS to work successfully with Oracle CDD. The ECO #1 kit, MMS V3.2-02, contains two fixes to DIGITAL MMS for OpenVMS Alpha and its support for DEC FMS. These fixes are included in ECO #2, MMS V3.2-03: o MMS V3.2-01 will not work with DEC FMS. All attempts to use MMS to build an FMS application will result in the following error conflicting messages and fatal error: %MMS-I-DRVFMSSUP, DEC/MMS is installed with support for DEC FMS. : %MMS-F-FMSNOSUPP, DEC/MMS is installed without DEC FMS support. This problem has been corrected allowing MMS to work successfully with DEC FMS. o On OpenVMS systems without DECwindows installed, MMS V3.2-01 will not link with the FMS image FDVSHR.EXE. Unless this image is linked in, all attempts to use MMS with FMS will result in the following MMS Access Violation: %SYSTEM-F-ACCVIO, access violation, reason mask=00, virtual address= 0000000000000008, PC=000000000049E2AC, PS=0000001B Improperly handled condition, image exit forced. All of these fixes are planned for integration with DECset Version 12.3 and DIGITAL MMS Version 3.3. Problems Addressed in MMSAE01032: o This ECO kit contains a fix to DIGITAL MMS for OpenVMS Alpha and its support for Alpha FMS: MMS V3.2-01 will not work with Alpha FMS. All attempts to use MMS to build an FMS application will result in the following error conflicting messages and fatal error: %MMS-I-DRVFMSSUP, DEC/MMS is installed with support for Alpha FMS. : %MMS-F-FMSNOSUPP, DEC/MMS is installed without Alpha FMS support. This problem has been corrected allowing MMS to work successfully with Alpha FMS. o 2. On OpenVMS systems without DECwindows installed, MMS V3.2-01 will not link with the FMS image FDVSHR.EXE. INSTALLATION NOTES: The system/cluster does not need to be rebooted after this kit is installed. However, if the installation is performed on an OpenVMS cluster, you must execute the following command: @SYS$STARTUP:MMS$STARTUP.COM on all other nodes in the cluster. In addition, you must add the above line to your system startup procedure. This DIGITAL MMS ECO kit may be installed on OpenVMS Alpha Systems, running DECset Version 12.2 or MMS Version 3.2. The saveset files, MMSAE02032.A and MMSAE02032.B, should be installed using the VMSINSTAL command. The ECO kit can be installed with the VMSINSTAL command procedure, as outlined in Chapter 3 of the OpenVMS System Manager's Manual: Essentials (AA-PV5MK-TK). Install the DIGITAL MMS ECO kit: $ @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL MMSAE02032 \
