ECO KIT SUMMARY:
An ECO kit exists for POLYCENTER File Optimizer for OpenVMS V2.1 on OpenVMS
VAX V5.5 through V6.2 or OpenVMS AXP V6.1 through V6.2. This kit addresses
the following problems:
o Defragmenting of a large active stripeset never completed.
o The DEFRAGMENT OFFLINE_VOLUME command did not defragment
the INDEXF.SYS file.
o Error handling code for the PFO RMS database scheduler
was not robust enough.
INSTALLATION NOTES:
This version of POLYCENTER File Optimizer was compiled with DEC
C and needs the DEC C/C++ Run-Time Components to run. These
run-time components are not on OpenVMS VAX Versions 5.5-x or
6.0. We have included these run-time components with the
POLYCENTER File Optimizer kit. When installing the PFO kit on
OpenVMS VAX Versions 5.5-x or 6.0 you will be asked if you want
to install the DEC C/C++ Run-Time Components kit. When the DEC
C/C++ Run-Time Components kit is installed, some of the
shareable image run-time components replace older versions of
existing OpenVMS components. Prior to the installation you
should read Chapter 1 of the DEC C/C++ Run-Time Components for
OpenVMS VAX Reference and Installation Guide.
You can extract the reference and installation guide from saveset
DFGECO01021.B using the following commands:

If you are running Defrag PLUS, you must shut down the scheduler
before installing the ECO kit. Use the following command:
$ @SYS$MANAGER:DFG$STOP_SCHEDULER
If you have Defrag PLUS installed, you can use your existing
database by answering YES to the question during the installation
as shown in an extract of the installation procedure below:

The ECO kit is installed with the VMSINSTAL command procedure.

This ECO kit is installed in the same manner as the POLYCENTER
File Optimizer V2.1 kit as described in Chapter 2 of the
POLYCENTER File Optimizer for OpenVMS Guide to Operations.
