NOTE: An OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file is stored

for OpenVMS VAX or kit_name-dcx_axpexe for OpenVMS Alpha.

ECO KIT SUMMARY:
An ECO kit exists for BACKUP on OpenVMS Alpha V7.2. This kit addresses
the following problems:
o A %BACKUP-F-BADOPTVAL error can occur when using an Identifier
String for a BACKUP/BY_OWNER qualifier value.
For example:
$ BACKUP SOURCE:*.*/BY_OWNER=USER TAPE:A.BCK/SAV
%BACKUP-F-BADOPTVAL, invalid callable interface option value,
argument position 7, option type = 59, option value = 2147549409
Image(s) Affected:
- [SYSEXE]BACKUP.EXE
- [SYSLIB]BACKUPSHR.EXE
o General tape device problems can occur, due to an MTD
enhancement.
Images(s) Affected:
- [SYSEXE]BACKUP.EXE
- [SYSLIB]BACKUPSHR.EXE
o Superfluous ACCONFLICT messages can occur using
/IGNORE=INTERLOCK with the ODS5 disk.
Images(s) Affected:
- [SYSEXE]BACKUP.EXE
- [SYSLIB]BACKUPSHR.EXE
o Two MTD problems can occur:
1. The new to "DENSITY=" feature does not
consistently set a tape device to the desired 'default'
density.
2. Superfluous -W-DENSITY messages can be output from BACKUP.
Images(s) Affected:
- [SYSEXE]BACKUP.EXE
- [SYSLIB]BACKUPSHR.EXE
o An implied default device density value may not be
consistently applied to tape devices, particularly on
continuation volumes (MTD related). This problem occurs
when no DENSITY or MEDIA_FORMAT qualifier is supplied on
the command line.
Images(s) Affected:
- [SYSEXE]BACKUP.EXE
- [SYSLIB]BACKUPSHR.EXE
o Intermittent access violations can occur at volume switch when
a continuation volume is needed.
Images(s) Affected:
- [SYSEXE]BACKUP.EXE
- [SYSLIB]BACKUPSHR.EXE
o ACKUP/JOURNAL can fail with an ACCVIO under the following
conditions:
1. Backing up a moderate number of files to tape
2. Backing up a file where the combined length of the
directory specification and filename exceed 512 characters
Images(s) Affected:
- [SYSEXE]BACKUP.EXE
- [SYSLIB]BACKUPSHR.EXE
o When a complete filename is specified with a relative
(negative) file version, no files are selected.
Images(s) Affected:
- [SYSEXE]BACKUP.EXE
- [SYSLIB]BACKUPSHR.EXE
INSTALLATION NOTES:
The system does not need to be rebooted after this kit is installed.
However, if the system is a member of a VMScluster, the other cluster
members should be rebooted or this kit should be installed on each
system in order to make use of the new image(s).
