ECO KIT SUMMARY:
An ECO kit exists for CMS Version 4.0 and DECset Version 12.3 on
OpenVMS Alpha V6.2 through V7.2. This kit addresses the following
problems:
o This ECO kit contains a fix to DIGITAL CMS for OpenVMS Alpha and its
support for DFS served libraries and management of virtual memory.
This ECO kit contains two fixes to DIGITAL CMS for OpenVMS Alpha:
1. CMS doesn't access DFS served libraries. Attempts to use CMS to
access DFS served libraries may result in the following type of error:
$ CMS SET LIB DISK$DFS1:[FOO.CMSLIB]
%CMS-E-NOREF, error referencing pathname
-CMS-E-NOTCMSLIB, the directory spec is not a CMS library
-RMS-E-XAB, invalid XAB or XAB not accessible at 009C9DAA
-CMS-W-UNDEFLIB, CMS library is undefined
This problem has been corrected allowing CMS to work successfully with
DFS served libraries.
2. CMS causes virtual memory usage to increase significantly. This
can cause CMS to fail with an insufficient virtual memory error.
Both these fixes are planned for integration with DECset Version 12.4
and DIGITAL CMS Version 4.1.
INSTALLATION NOTES:
The system does not need to be rebooted after this kit is installed.
However, if the system is a member of a VMScluster, the other cluster
members should be rebooted or this kit should be installed on each
system in order to make use of the new image(s).
