OpenVMS ALPRAMP01_061 Alpha System V6.1 ECO Summry
NOTE: An OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file is stored
on the Internet in a self-expanding compressed file.
The name of the compressed file will be kit_name-dcx_vaxexe
for OpenVMS VAX or kit_name-dcx_axpexe for OpenVMS Alpha.
Once the file is copied to your system, it can be expanded
by typing RUN compressed_file. The resultant file will
be the OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file which
can be used to install the ECO.

ECO KIT SUMMARY:
An ECO kit exists for OpenVMS Alpha V6.1 and SEVMS Alpha V6.1.
Note: The sole purpose of this kit is to restore OpenVMS Alpha V6.1 and
SEVMS ALPHA V6.1 to C2 and B1 evaluated configurations,
respectively. Specifically, this kit should only be installed on
an OpenVMS Alpha V6.1 system built from the QA-MT1AA-H8.6.1 or
SEVMS Alpha V6.1 built from the QA-3DVAA-H8.6.1 software
distribution kits. This kit is listed on the EPL and should only
be applied to these base operating system kits, which are also
listed on the EPL.
This kit should only be applied to these base operating
system kits. This kit should never be applied to any other system
configuration, including these base systems with any other
installed TIMA kits or MUPs.
An evaluated configuration can only be achieved if one of the base
systems and this kit are installed together. Any other
configuration using this kit is not on the EPL.
Problems Addressed in the ALPRAMP01_061 Kit:
o This enhancement provides C2 security support to Alpha OpenVMS
DECnet Phase IV. These enhancements include:
o NCP Command Line Auditing
o Connection Auditing
o Privilege Auditing.
o The MC AUTHORIZE REM/IDENT command does not return the status
it used to. It now returns "1" even when the command fails.
This problem is corrected in Alpha OpenVMS V6.2.
o A user with the READALL privilege should be able to read a
logical name table to which access is otherwise denied.
However, this is failing with a NOPRIV error.
This problem is corrected in Alpha OpenVMS V6.2.
o VMSINSTAL security change.
This problem is corrected in Alpha OpenVMS V7.0.
o SEVMS tape handling support missing from VMSINSTAL.COM and
SPKITBLD.COM. This lack of support prohibits the operation of
VMSINSTAL/SPKITBLD on SEVMS systems using a tape drive as the
source device.
This problem is corrected in OpenVMS V6.2.
o MAC access was not being immediately applied when outgoing
links were defined.
This problem is corrected in OpenVMS V6.2.
INSTALLATION NOTES:
In order for the corrections in this kit to take effect, the system
must be rebooted. If the system is a member of a VMScluster, the
entire cluster should be rebooted.
