TITLE: OpenVMS ALPPPPD01_071 Point-to-Point Protocol for Alpha V7.1 ECO Summary
NOTE: An OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file is stored
on the Internet in a self-expanding compressed file.

for OpenVMS VAX or kit_name-dcx_axpexe for OpenVMS Alpha.
Once the file is copied to your system, it can be expanded

ECO KIT SUMMARY:
An ECO kit exists for Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) on OpenVMS Alpha V7.1
through V7.1-1H2. This kit addresses the following problems:
o On an error path that, to date, has not been exercised, it is
possible to fail to return allocated pool.
o Random crashes on multiprocessor systems where synchronization
was broken.
A crash in ASN driver where the wrong UCB was used. Caused by
the terminal driver modem poller logic still running and
partially switching the line back to using TTDRIVER.
o On systems with most of pool used, PPP connections could not be
started or would fail for no apparent reason.
o Utility switches a line to PPP without checking remote bit,
when doing a modem connection.
o ACCVIO when trying to dial a remote connection, and time to
connect times out.
o Display shows undescriptive DEFAULTs instead of the actual
values for hangup, input and output speed.
o When an ASN device is bound to a terminal device you cannot
show the parameters.
INSTALLATION NOTES:
System should be rebooted after successful installation of the kit.
If you have other nodes in your VMScluster, they should also be
rebooted in order to make use of the new images.
