OpenVMS ALPDRIV12_061 Alpha V6.1 LRDRIVER ECO Summary
NOTE: An OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file is stored
on the Internet in a self-expanding compressed file.
The name of the compressed file will be kit_name-dcx_vaxexe
for OpenVMS VAX or kit_name-dcx_axpexe for OpenVMS Alpha.
Once the file is copied to your system, it can be expanded
by typing RUN compressed_file. The resultant file will
be the OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file which
can be used to install the ECO.

ECO KIT SUMMARY:
An ECO kit exists for LRDRIVER on OpenVMS Alpha V6.1 through V6.1-1H2.
This kit addresses the following problems:
Problems addressed in ALPDRIV12_061:
o The ALPDRIV11_061 remedial kit did not check to see if the system
the kit was being installed on was an SMP (multi-processor) system.
If the system is an SMP system and the AXPSYS07_061 remedial kit
is not installed, installing the ALPDRIV11_061 kit will lead to
system instability. The ALPDRIV12_061 kit installation procedure
will check to see if the system the kit is being installed on is
an SMP (multi-processor) system. If so, the kit will check to see
if the AXPSYS07_061 remedial kit has been installed. If not,
ALPDRIV12_061 will not install. This is a problem for SMP
systems only.
Problems addressed in ALPDRIV11_061:
o All known problems with TAB expansions.
o Random non-useful completion status is sometimes returned.
The correct, meaningful error status is now returned.
o The system might crash with a double deallocate when a
device is spooled.
o Random garbage characters may be printed when the printer
is set to 'DEVICE/PRINTALL.'
o Problems may exist with DEClaser 1152 and third-party
CalComp[TM] & Tektronics[R] plotters and LP27s.
These problems are fixed in OpenVMS Alpha V7.0.
Problems addressed in ALPDRIV09_061:
o If the following commands are executed:
$DEFINE/FORM/NOWRAP/NOTRUNC FORMNAME FORMNUMBER
$SET DEVICE /SPOOLED LRA0:
$INIT/QUEUE/START/ON=NODE::LRA0/DEF=(NOFEED,NOFLAG,-
$_NOBURST,NOTRAILER,FORM=FORMNAME) queuename
$SET PRINTER/CR/NOFALLBACK/FF/LOWER/PAGE=66/PASSALL-
$_/PRINTALL/TAB/NOTRUNC/UNKNOWN/WIDTH=132/NOWRAP LRA0:
$PRINT/QUEUE=queuename/FORM=formname/PASSALL filename
After 2 minutes the queue goes into stalled status.
If the customer then tries:
STOP/QUEUE queuename
SET DEVICE/NOSPOOLED LRA0:
The system will crash with a double deallocation memory error
due to incorrect register usage.
INSTALLATION NOTES:
In order for the corrections in this kit to take effect, the system
must be rebooted. If the system is a member of a VMScluster, the
entire cluster must be rebooted.
