ECO INFORMATION:
ECO Kit Name: PWUNIX_ECO261
ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: PWK610_ECO1
ECO Kit Approximate Size: 84100 Blocks
43059200 Bytes
Kit Applies To: PATHWORKS for DIGITAL UNIX V6.1
DIGITAL UNIX V4.0, V4.0a, V4.0b
ECO KIT SUMMARY:
An ECO kit exists for PATHWORKS for DIGITAL UNIX V6.1 on DIGITAL UNIX
V4.0 through V4.0b.
Problems addressed in the PWUNIX_ECO261 kit:
LanManager changes
-------------------
o There was a problem with the net share command not listing all the
shares. The maximum number of shares that can be returned is limited,
due to the buffer limits of the API, NetShareEnum. Proportioned the
buffer size for share enumeration.
o There was a problem with a DECSafe/TruCluster Environment in a wide
area network. The tcp/ip transport now binds to an alias.
o There was a problem recognizing domains over a WAN. The lmhosts
file is now checked for both unique and group names, not just unique
names.
o There was a problem saving a NT 4.0 WordPad file in Word Doc format
to a share. WordPad can now successfully save a file in Word Doc
format.
o Saving mail from a Netscape pc client to a share sometimes caused the
mail file to become corrupted. Netscape mail is now written correctly
to disk.
o The proper share name is now set up for permissions for directories in
PWADMIN.

Problems addressed in the PWUNIX_ECO261 kit:
LanManager changes
-------------------
o Changed default for 'useoplock' to no.
o Added protection against race conditions with oplocks, and the use of
the unlocked ustructs to lock those ustructs.
o Added tasker semaphore debug for a hung lmx.srv process.
o Change was made to return proper error code when the file exists.
o Change was made to grant the user the access she/he requested for
create.
o Change to make sure a pointer into the open file table is valid before
it is used. Closed another race condition while an oplock was being
released.
o Correction to allow Microsoft Word and Excel files to be saved.
o Correction to truncate a file when it was reopened and smaller amount
of data was written out.
o Changes to fix problems with decnet/browser.
o Corrected panic in NETBEUI after performance drop.
o Fixed a message-parsing loop to accommodate an unexpectedly small
message.
o Change knblink to bind to an IP alias.

INSTALLATION NOTES:
o Customers must de-install PATHWORKS for DIGITAL UNIX Base system subset
using setld:
- If any of the subsets are not installed, setld displays a
message to the user. It also prompts the user to confirm
that they really want to deinstall the subsets specified.
and re-install with new kit:
> /sbin/setld -l /kitdir
- /kitdir is the location of the kit. If the kit is on tape, the
most common tape drive specification is /dev/rmt0h. If the kit is
already on the system, /kitdir is the path to the kit's location.
See directions below for details on installing the kit.
o Use the tar utility to unpack the kit, example:
> tar xvf PWUNIX_ECO261.tar
- the following files are in the tar file.
PWK.image PWKNWBASE610 PWKNWTRAN4610
PWKBASE610 PWKRNOTE610 PWKCONFIG610
PWKRPL610 PWKDNA4610 PWKTCP4610
PWKLIC610 PWKMAN610 PWKNBU4610
PWKNW3SVOL610 instctrl
The PWK.image file contains the checksum numbers for each subset.
Change to the kit directory and use the setld utility to install the
kit:
> cd
> setld -l /kitdir
- The above setld command will display a list of valid subsets that
are in the current directory in menu format and prompts the user.
Below is an example:
The subsets listed below are optional:
There may be more optional subsets than can be presented on a single
screen. If this is the case, you can choose subsets screen by screen
or all at once on the last screen. All of the choices you make will
be collected for your confirmation before any subsets are installed.
