1    Features

TruCluster Server Version 5.1A supports all of the features of TruCluster Server Version 5.1 plus additional enhancements that are listed in Table 1-1.

Table 1-1:  TruCluster Server Version 5.1A Features

Feature Description For more information, see:
Logical Storage Manager (LSM) mirroring of swap and cluster root You can use LSM to mirror swap and the cluster root file system. Cluster Administration and volmigrate(8)
Cluster File System (CFS) performance improvements Improved file system read performance with fully connected storage. Cluster Technical Overview
Local area network (LAN) cluster interconnect The cluster interconnect, which serves as a private communications channel between cluster members, can now use either a private LAN or Memory Channel. Cluster LAN Interconnect
CFS support for quotas You can set Berkeley Standard Distribution (BSD)-type user and group quotas on AdvFS file systems. Cluster Administration
Support for Network File System (NFS) server access via a non-default cluster alias You can define an alternate cluster alias that allows you to limit NFS server activity to those members that are actually connected to the storage that contains exported file systems. NFS clients use this alternate alias when they mount file systems served by the cluster. Cluster Technical Overview, Cluster Administration
Server-side UNIX File System (UFS) read/write and Server-side Memory File System (MFS) read/write Read/write access is supported for UFS and MFS file systems that are mounted as partitioned file systems (the default for UFS and MFS). A partitioned file system is accessible only on the member where the file system is mounted. UFS and MFS file systems that are mounted as read-only are accessible via CFS anywhere in the cluster. 1.1    Changes from TruCluster Server Version 5.1

This section describes differences between TruCluster Server Version 5.1 and Version 5.1A.

1.1.1    Name of Cluster Interconnect Virtual Device Changed

For Version 5.1A, the name of the virtual device for the cluster interconnect has changed from mc0 to ics0. If you perform a full installation of Version 5.1A, or perform a rolling upgrade from Version 5.1, the NETDEV_x configuration variable in each member's /etc/rc.config file that corresponds to this device will be defined as ics0.
