11    Tuning the ATM Subsystem

Table 11-1 lists the configuration attributes for tuning the ATM subsystem. Use the sysconfig -q atm command to query the default values. See System Configuration and Tuning for more information on tuning subsystem operations.

Table 11-1:  ATM Subsystem Configuration Attributes

Attribute Description
resvtimeo The number of seconds after which unused reserved resources are revoked via an ATM_CME_RESV_EXPIRE exception notification. The default is 30 seconds.
sysresvlim The percentage of each driver's total interface bandwidth that is available to constant bit rate (CBR) and pacing circuits in the backward or incoming and forward or outgoing directions. The value is specified as an integer (0-100). Use the atmconfig command to set this limit on a per-driver basis.
fsysresvlim The percentage of each driver's total interface bandwidth that is available to constant bit rate (CBR) and pacing circuits in the forward or outgoing direction. The value is specified as an integer (0-100). Use the atmconfig command to set this limit on a per-driver basis.
bsysresvlim The percentage of each driver's total interface bandwidth that is available to constant bit rate (CBR) and pacing circuits in the backward or incoming direction. The value is specified as an integer (0-100). Use the atmconfig command to set this limit on a per-driver basis.

Table 11-2 lists the configuration attribute for tuning the UNI3X subsystem. Use the sysconfig -q uni3x command to query the default values. See System Configuration and Tuning for more information on tuning subsystem operations.

Table 11-2:  UNI3X Subsystem Configuration Attributes

Attribute Description
timer_resolution The number of ticks per second of the signaling module timers. The default is 10 ticks per second, or 100-millisecond resolution. If you increase this value, you achieve better precision but with greater processor overhead.

Table 11-3 lists the configuration attribute for tuning the LANE subsystem. Use the sysconfig -q lane command to query the default values. See System Configuration and Tuning for more information on tuning subsystem operations.

Table 11-3:  LANE Subsystem Configuration Attributes

Attribute Description
nelan The maximum number of emulated LANs that you can configure on the system. The default is 4. The maximum number is determined by the number of ESIs available on the system.
