NAME
  setup - invokes a system Setup menu for systems without graphics
  capabilities

SYNOPSIS
  /usr/sbin/setup

DESCRIPTION
  If your system does not have graphics capabilities, use the Setup menu to
  access a set of menu-driven, text-based system setup applications to set up
  your Tru64 UNIX system for general use.  The Setup menu provides access to
  the applications that let you set up networking, printers, and mail, add
  user accounts, install Product Authorization Keys (PAKs), and so on.	You
  must have superuser or root privileges to invoke the Setup menu.

  The applications available on the Setup menu differ depending upon the
  software subsets that were loaded during the installation.  If the software
  subset that supports an application was not installed, the application
  appears on the menu without an option number and is not available.

  The applications appear on the Setup menu in the general order in which
  Digital recommends them to be run.  For example, if you want to set up the
  system in a networked environment, the first application to invoke is the
  Network Configuration Application followed by the BIND Configuration
  Application, the NIS - Network Information Service application, and the NFS
  Configuration Application.  If you do not plan to run your system in a
  networked environment, the first task you should perform is to load and
  register the Product Authorization Keys (PAKs) that came with your system
  by using the License Manager application.

  If your system has graphics capabilities, the preferred method to perform
  system setup is through the SysMan Configuration Checklist which is invoked
  in one of the following ways:

    ·  After a full installation, the SysMan Configuration Checklist displays
       automatically.  Select an application from the checklist by clicking
       on the corresponding icon.

    ·  To invoke the SysMan Configuration Checklist from the command line,
       enter /usr/sbin/checklist.

    ·  To invoke the SysMan Configuration Checklist from the Common Desktop
       Environment (CDE) front panel:

	1.
	 Click on the Application Manager icon on the CDE front panel

	2.
	 Double click on the System_Admin application group icon

	3.
	 Double click on the SysMan Configuration Checklist application icon




EXAMPLES
  This example invokes the Setup menu from the root system prompt:

       # /usr/sbin/setup

  A menu similar to the following is displayed:

       Use this menu to set up your system and network.	 When you
       select an item, you will be asked a series of questions.

       Enter the menu item number that you want:

  /etc/setup.conf
	     contains Setup menu options and their associated configuration
	     (setup) utilities.
