Locating items you want

The online books in this documentation library are arranged into "bookshelves." To choose a shelf, click its name from the list in the library window. Each bookshelf is represented by a bulleted list, with the bullet for each book colored to indicate the subkit to which the book belongs:

Blue Bullet Blue indicates the General User Documentation subkit.
Purple Bullet Purple indicates the Programming Documentation subkit.
Maroon Bullet Maroon indicates the System and Network Management Documentation subkit.
Green Bullet Green indicates the Reference Pages subkit.
Silver Bullet Silver indicates Supplementary Documentation that is not part of any kit and cannot be ordered from Compaq.

The organization of the bookshelves is similar to the kit structure of the printed documentation set except that books meeting the needs of different audiences appear on several bookshelves. For example, you will find the Security book on the General User, Programming, and System and Network Management bookshelves because it serves each of those audiences. Because it is part of the General User subkit, its bullet is blue in all of the bookshelves in which it appears.

The library contains two kinds of documents:

Black Bullet HTML documents for viewing with your browser. For information on using HTML books, see Navigating within a book. For information on using HTML reference pages, see Viewing reference pages.
Black Bullet PDF documents for viewing with Adobe Acrobat Reader (or with your browser if you have the appropriate Acrobat Reader plug-in). When you open a PDF document from your browser, the browser opens a new window for it. If you do not have the plug-in, this window will remain empty and the document will be opened with Acrobat Reader.

Not all documents are available in both forms. In addition to the documents in this library, the complete Tru64 UNIX documentation set includes several books that are available only in printed form. For more information on these books, see the Documentation Overview.
