This manual describes the Remote Installation Services (RIS) and the Dataless Management Services (DMS) for Tru64 UNIX (formerly DIGITAL UNIX). RIS is used for installing software kits across a network instead of using locally mounted distribution media. DMS allows client systems to share the /usr file system on a server over a network while maintaining their own root ( / ) and /var file systems.
