Use the
utilupdate
utility provided on your distribution
media to update the versions of the
ris
and
dmu
utilities on a server that is not running the latest version of
the operating system.
This enables you to serve the latest version of the
operating system to client systems.
utilupdate
[-r]
[-d]
-m
directory
There are three parameters for the
utilupdate
utility:
-rIndicates that the
ris
utility and associated
programs should be updated.
-dIndicates that the
dmu
utility and associated
programs should be updated.
-mThis parameter is required, and specifies the directory where the operating system distribution is mounted.
Note
If you do not specify the
-ror-dparameter, theutilupdateutility only updates the components of thesetldutility needed to support therisanddmuutilities on the server. This updates the version of thesetldutility in the/var/adm/ris/bindirectory, but does not change the server's version of thesetldutility. Refer to thesetld(8) reference page for more information.
