vgdisplay - Displays information about volume groupsSYNOPSIS
/usr/sbin/vgdisplay [-v] [VolumeGroupName ...]DESCRIPTION
Note This command is no longer supported on Digital UNIX systems. Features formerly provided by the Logical Volume Manager (LVM) are now provided by the Logical Storage Manager (LSM). Existing LVM volumes must be migrated to LSM, using an encapsulation process. For information about moving LVM volumes to LSM, see the vollvmencap(8) reference page and the manual Logical Storage Manager. The vgdisplay command displays information about volume groups. If you use VolumeGroupName, only the information for that volume group is displayed. If you do not use VolumeGroupName a list of the names of all defined volume groups is displayed. If the -v (verbose) flag is not specified, only the following information is displayed: VG Name Name of the volume group. VG Status State of the volume group. If the volume group is activated with the vgchange -a y command, the state is available. If the volume group is deactivated with the vgchange -a n command, the state is off. Max LV Maximum number of logical volumes allowed in the volume group. Cur LV Current number of logical volumes within the volume group. Open LV Number of logical volumes within the volume group that are currently open. Max PV Maximum number of physical volumes allowed in the volume group. Cur PV Current number of physical volumes within the volume group. Active PV Number of physical volumes that are currently active. PE Size Size of each physical extent. Max PE per PV Maximum number (limit) of physical extents that can be allocated from any of the physical volumes in the volume group. Total PE Total number of physical extents within the volume group: this is the sum of the number of physical extents belonging to each available physical volume in the volume group. Alloc PE Number of physical extents currently allocated to logical volumes. Free PE Number of physical extents not allocated. VGDA Number of volume group descriptor areas within the volume group.FLAGS
-v Lists additional information for each logical volume and for each physical volume on the volume group: Logical volumes: lists the following information about logical volumes belonging to VolumeGroupName: LV Name Name of the logical volume within the volume group. LV Status State of the logical volume. Available/stale indicates the logical volume can be opened but contains extents that are not current. Available/syncd indicates the logical volume can be opened and it is synchronized. Unavailable indicates that an open of the logical volume will fail. Total LE Number of logical extents in the logical volume. Used PE Number of physical extents used by the logical volume. Used PV Number of physical volumes used by the logical volume. Physical volumes: lists the following information about physical volumes belonging to VolumeGroupName: PV Name Name of the physical volume within the group. PV status State of the physical volume. Total PE Total number of physical extents on the physical volume. Free PE Number of free physical extents on the physical volume.EXAMPLES
1. To display information about all the volume groups within the system, enter: vgdisplay 2. To display all of the information about volume group vg02, enter: vgdisplay -v /dev/vg02 The characteristics and status of both the logical and physical extents of volume group vg02 are displayed.FILES
