ifchk is a network interface promiscuous mode detection tool written with both security and system administrative applications in mind. The program will:

- Report on the operational state (PROMISC, normal, down, etc) of each interface attached to the system.
- Shutdown all interfaces running in promiscuous mode, if told to do so.
- Report per-interface traffic metrics to help identify spikes in network traffic flow.
- Log per-interface state information and traffic metric dump invocation via syslogd.
