it is the janitor's understanding that the fw_common.sw -- which includes the /usr/freeware/bin/fixpath script (add/remove paths from startup files) -- is a pre-requiste inst subsystem which must be installed before any other fw_* software can be installed. hence each freeware package is bundled here as a tardist file including the fw_common software for those who are installing their first freeware package on any system.legal_notice.html
