x3270
X11 based IBM 3278/3279 Terminal Emulator.


x3270 is an IBM® 3270 terminal emulator for the X Window System. It can be used to communicate with any IBM host that supports 3270-style connections over telnet. It can also communicate with hosts that use line-by-line ASCII mode to do initial login negotiation before switching to full-screen 3270 mode.

NOTE: This package will only work on IRIX 6.5 systems. It was built with the MIPSpro 7.3 compilers. If you are running on IRIX 6.5.9 or earlier you must install the following patches (or their successors):

  • patch 3911 (19 MB) -- compiler_eoe (except libmp)

Patches can be downloaded from http://www.sgi.com/support/patch_intro.html.

This product installs its own X11 fonts in /usr/freeware/share/fonts/x3270. In order to use them, you should issue the following commands before invoking x3270:

xset fp+ /usr/freeware/share/fonts/x3270
xset fp rehash
