General Information
-------------------
Things to know:
1. Regular upgrades apply to users who have C Set ++ V2.0 or V2.1. Use the
| 30H1681, 1682, 1683 part numbers, depending on the medium you want.
Users of C Set/2 or WorkSet/2 (the old V1.0 product) can also upgrade,
Using the promotional part numbers 30H1775, 1776, or 1777. Remember this
| V1.0 upgrade offer has an expiry date!
2. There will be no V3.0 of FirstStep. Current users of FirstStep may
upgrade to VA C++ at a special price (see below).
3. For bona fide students, there is an academic price for VA C++. The
academic offering is NOT available from IBM, only from campus stores
and other special academic outlets. Pricing is determined by the
outlet; part numbers are given below.
4. Users of a competitive product now have an upgrade to VA C++ at an
attractive price. See below.
5. The documentation groups have been renamed. Group 1 becomes Standard
Manuals, Group 2 is now called Extended Manuals. The manuals are no
| longer sold singly. Details of what's in which group are in this file.
6. The will be a V3 of the ICLUI (now Open Class) Source Code product. It
will not be available until 9/95. There is NO upgrade for the Source
Code product for users of the previous version.
7. If you want more copies of VA C++ but don't particularly want to buy
the physical boxes, Additional Licenses are available, and are cheaper
than buying another physical copy.
| 8. The "Volume Packs", n physical boxes shipped together, are no longer
available.
| 9. SRP is Suggested Retail Price. Dealers usually sell for less. US and
| Canadian prices are given. Outside North America, contact IBM for price
| details.

In other words:
- Both the Standard and Extended manuals are available in SOFTCOPY in
ALL versions of the product.
- The +doc option means you get the Standard Manuals in hardcopy
- We don't ship the Extended Manuals with any version of the product. They
always come softcopy, and if required in hardcopy, must be ordered
separately.
- The CD option has only softcopy doc, no hardcopy at all. That's why it's
always cheaper.
Plus ..
The .INF and .BOO (BookManager) files can be accessed from the CD-ROM, i.e.
not installed to the hard drive, to save space.
