How would a client authenticate itself with the server to get the first fh ?

(for the server to process " public handle with pathname to return the real fh",
 the call should have been authenticated, in v2/v3 style ).

Should the client assume AUTH_RPCSEC_GSS is the first authentication flavor ?
How does it know the mechanisms supported by that flavor ?
(SECINFO procedure seems to assume a valid input FH).
