The card has also been tested with PNW and found to be compatible. Listed below is a general set of installation and configuration instructions: When the card is first installed in a computer and the computer turned on, the card may load a configuration routine before booting the computer. If the configuration routine comes up, follow it's instructions for configuring the card. If the configuration routine does not automatically come up, or if the configuration is to be changed, run SOFTSET2.EXE off of the installation diskette supplied with the card. When configuring the card, the machine should be booted without loading other network drivers. If the machine has Novell DOS 7, or MS/PC DOS 6 or higher, boot the machine and press when "Starting DOS..." appears to skip the configuration files. With DRDOS 6 or MS/PC DOS lower than 6, rename the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files to other extensions and boot the machine. After the machine has booted without running the configuration files, insert the installation diskette, go to that drive and run SOFTSET2.EXE The SOFTSET2 routine will automatically configure the card and test it. The automatic configuration is safe to run, but review the cards settings prior to writing them to the card. The default settings are INT 3, PORT 300, and Flash Chip Address D000. If the computer does not have an LPT2 port, Novell recommends INT 5, PORT 340, and no Flash Chip Address. The user can select the "Change Adapter Configuration" option from the main menu to make the changes. When changing the Flash Chip Address, select disabled. If the user wants to have the Flash Chip Address enabled, then the memory range MUST be excluded by the EMM386 memory manager. The user should also run the self test option. If the card does not pass the tests, be sure the card is properly seated in the expansion slot and that the network cable is attached properly to the card. After the card has been installed in the computer and configured, run the PNW SETUP routine. Select "Networking", then "Primary Network Interface Card". Select OEM Supplied Driver", then enter the drive and path for the PROODI.COM and PROODI.INS files, i.e. A:\DRIVERS, and press return. The drivers should be read in and a new option at the top of the drivers list should appear, "Intel EtherExpress Pro". Select "Intel EtherExpress Pro" and press return. The driver will then be read into the C:\NWCLIENT directory. Exit the setup routine and reboot the computer. If the card driver does not load during reboot, then something is wrong with the installation. The user should then walk through the configure steps again, or call Intel Technical Support for assistance. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Any trademarks referenced in this document are the property of their respective owners.
