Some emulators with PNW cause a machine hang or print jobs never get sent to the print queue. CAUSES: Some emulators, an example of this is the IBM PC Support Program, will cause the machine to hang (or appear to hang because the station is waiting for a reply) or print jobs will never arrive at the print queue where PNW is running. This problem is caused by the emulation software using all cpu cycles and not allowing other applications to run, namely TSRs (Terminate and Stay Resident progams). These TSRs include Personal NetWare and others such as SideKick. If cpu cycles are not granted to TSRs, the VLMs will appear to hang since no response is obtained from the SERVER.EXE module. This problem will not occur if the station is a client only station since a client only does not act as a file or print server. Emulators that have run successfully with Personal NetWare include but are not limited to DCA FT Express and NetWare 3270 LAN Workstation products. This information is also applicable to NetWare Lite 1.1. TROUBLESHOOTING: Only happens when the network is loaded. SOLUTIONS: Make the station a client only or obtain another emulation software package that allows other TSRs to run. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Any trademarks referenced in this document are the property of their respective owners.
