TITLE: Two LAN cards with PNW DOCUMENT ID: TID021679 DOCUMENT REVISION: 49 DATE: 25JUN95 ALERT STATUS: Yellow README FOR: NA NOVELL PRODUCT and VERSION: PERSONAL NETWARE V1.0 ABSTRACT: NA --------------------------------------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: THE ORIGIN OF THIS INFORMATION MAY BE INTERNAL OR EXTERNAL TO NOVELL. NOVELL MAKES EVERY EFFORT WITHIN ITS MEAN TO VERIFY THIS INFORMATION. HOWEVER, THE INFORMATION PROVIDED IN THIS DOCUMENT IS FOR YOUR INFORMATION ONLY. NOVELL MAKES NO EXPLICIT OR IMPLIED CLAIMS TO THE VALIDITY OF THIS INFORMATION. --------------------------------------------------------------------- SYMPTOM: Personal NetWare does not appear to recognize two LAN cards in a workstation. Personal NetWare appears to bind to only one card, the first one loaded. CAUSE: Personal NetWare depends on the same protocol stack and programs (LSL, lan card driver, IPXODI) as NetWare 3.x/4.x clients do. Because of this Personal NetWare cannot bind to two cards, but only one. However, multiple protocol stacks can bound to one lan card. This allows a customer to run Personal NetWare over IPX but communicate to TCP/IP resources such as the Internet. Another example of this is NETBIOS which can also sit on top of the ODI protocol stack. SOLUTION: It currently is not possible. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Any trademarks referenced in this document are the property of their respective owners.
