TITLE: Win95, "Novell NetWare drivers disk..." DOCUMENT ID: TID1006105 DOCUMENT REVISION: 0 DATE: 05OCT95 ALERT STATUS: Yellow README FOR: NA NOVELL PRODUCT and VERSION: PERSONAL NetWare 1.0 ABSTRACT: NA --------------------------------------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: THE ORIGIN OF THIS INFORMATION MAY BE INTERNAL OR EXTERNAL TO NOVELL. NOVELL MAKES EVERY EFFORT WITHIN ITS MEANS TO VERIFY THIS INFORMATION. HOWEVER, THE INFORMATION PROVIDED IN THIS DOCUMENT IS FOR YOUR INFORMATION ONLY. NOVELL MAKES NO EXPLICIT OR IMPLIED CLAIMS TO THE VALIDITY OF THIS INFORMATION. --------------------------------------------------------------------- SYMPTOM: When installing Windows 95 on a Personal NetWare computer, the Windows 95 setup routine may prompt the user with: "The disk labeled 'Novell NetWare Windows driver disk' is now required. This disk is provided by your computer manufacturer." SOLUTION: Prior to starting the Windows 95 setup routine, or, if the Windows 95 setup routine has already started, go to another computer and: 1. Download the PNW update files PNWUPW.EXE and PNWUPD.EXE. These files can be found on COMPUSERVE (GO NETWIRE), The Novell World Wide Wed site (http://www.novell.com), or the Novell BBS (801-221-5197, Files, Personal NetWare). 2. Run the PNWUPW and PNWUPD executables to extract their contents. 3. Copy the following files to a diskette that can be used on the computer which is installing Windows 95: ...NWPOPUP.EXE ...vlmdrvs\NETWARE.HLP ...vlmdrvs\NETWARE.DRV ...vxds\VIPX.386 ...vxds\VNETWARE.386 4. If the Windows 95 setup routine asks for "The disk labeled 'Novell NetWare Windows driver disk'...", insert the diskette with the above files in the A: drive, change the drive designator to A:, and click on . Follow the same procedure if the setup routine asks for any of the other files listed above. NOTE: In some cases the Windows 95 setup routine has not presented the above message and in other installations it has...it is not understood why this is the case. Technically, if the computer has Windows 3.1x already installed and the Personal NetWare setup routine has modified Windows 3.1x for compatibility, then the Windows 95 setup routine should find these files in the existing Windows 3.1x directory tree. Apparently, in some cases setup is not finding the files.
