abstract

Tsa5up24.zip comprises the latest updates to SMS for Netware 6.5. There is only one change made to this file. There is a new smdr.nlm that fixed a problem when using the ip address to connect to a remote host. The connection would fail. The DNS name of the server or the ip address can be used now.

details

Overview:
This file contains the latest SMS updates for Netware 6.5

System Requirements:
Netware 6.5 sp7 or sp8

Installation:
Copy these files and their respective subdirectories to sys:system on your Netware server. You can rename the existing files to preserve them if you wish. These files can also be copied to any directory on any volume and loaded from there if desired. You will have to modify the sys:system\smsstart.ncf to reflect any changes in the load directory path. By default, these files will be loaded from sys:system. It is not necessary to reboot the server after installing these updates. The sys:system\smsstop.ncf can be used to unload the files, and then smsstart.ncf to reload them. When using smsstop.ncf, if you receive the error:

"You must unload volsms.nlm before you can unload smdr.nlm. Unable to unload module smdr.nlm (error 2)"

edit the smsstop.ncf file and add the line:

unload volsms

just before the line to unload smdr.nlm.
Make sure you have no active SMS backup/restore jobs when unloading these files as an abend may occur.

Uninstalling:
Previous files may be copied into the same load directories as the current files, and the same unload/reload procedure followed.

Known Problems and Limitations:
Nwptape.cdm -- There have been reported problems with AIT5 drives.

Technical Support Information:

change log

Bug 389203
In an isolated network it is observed that gethostbyname() takes a long time(probably because it tries to contact the name server which is unreachable). SMDR was using this function to determine if a string was the IP address or not of the target host. . The implementation of this function has been changed to just use ip_addr. Smdr should now be able to use the ipaddress or the dns name of the target server in order to connect.

Bug-426509 :
Changes Done:Sync was not working when the source server is 6.5 sp7, this issue
is fixed now.

Bug-426071 :
Changes Done:TSA API version is incremented up to 3.1 for tsafs.nlm and smdr.nlm.

Post SP8 - This nwtape.cdm fixes a bug for variable length IO requests, and adds support for LTO4 drives.
