abstract

SCRSAVER will now allow for an emergency user/password to unlock in the event that eDirectory is unavailable

details

System Requirements: NetWare 6.5 Support Pack 8

Installation: Rename the current scrsaver.nlm in the sys:system directory and copy this file in it's place

usage :

1. Load SCSAVER.NLM

2. Use SCRSAVER SET EMERGENCY PASSWORD to set emergency password
eDirectory authentication will be performed (DS.NLM should be there at this time)
emergency password can be set after successful eDirectory authentication (please note SCRSTORE and SCRSTORE.KEY files created in the root of SYS: volume after the emergency password was saved)

3. Use SCRSAVER ACTIVATE and later deactivate the screen saver by pressing ESC and providing your eDirectory credentials. This step MUST be performed before proceeding with the following optional steps. Failure to follow these instructions will cause the emergency password decryption abnormal termination with a subsequent inability to control the server console. This step only needs to be performed once, to build the SCRSTORE and SCRSTORE.KEY files, or only when you change the Emergency password in which case you will need to delete the SCRSTORE and SCRSTORE.KEY files and run thought the above process again.

In order to test the emergency password proceed to step 4.

4. Unload DS.NLM
5. Use SCRSAVER ACTIVATE and later deactivate the screen saver by pressing ESC and providing the emergency password set in step 2
