abstract

This download file contains updated Libraries. LIBC 9.00.05 Feb 28, 2007 for NetWare 5.1/6.0/6.5. This may only be applied to servers with minimum support packs. NW51SP8.EXE, NW60SP5.EXE, and NW65SP5.EXE. However, NOTE: the EOL (End of Life) has been reached for NetWare 5.1 and NetWare 6.0, therefore not much testing is being done by Novell for these products. Note: The LIBC.NLM patch has been decoupled from the legacy libraries which can still be found in the NWLIB6J.EXE patch.

details

Overview:
Updated LIBC.NLM to address a couple issues found after NetWare 6.5 SP6.

System Requirements:
NetWare 6.5 SP5 / SP6
NetWare 6.0 SP5
NetWare 5.1 SP8

Installation:

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS NWCONFIG
1. Extract LIBCSP6a, unzipping files into their appropriate subdirectories.
2. Copy unzipped file structure to server volume.
3. Load NWCONFIG | Product Options | Install a product no listed | Esc
4. Choose F3 to specify a different path and point path to the INTSTALL.IPS
file in the patch root directory.
3. Select F10 to accept Netware LIBC Update kit.
4. When patch is complete, you will need to down and restart your server for
changes to take effect.

Uninstalling:
A backup of your existing LIBC library files will be saved to the C:\NWSERVER\!BACKUP.LIB. To go back to the previous version of the libraries, simply copy the files
from the !BACKUP.LIB directories to the appropriate parent directories.
Note: The backup option is also optional but recommended.

Known Problems and Limitations:
Patch should be applied after NWLIB6J.EXE patch as this patch includes a newer LIBC.NLM module but does not include the legacy libraries (Example: CLIB.NLM, REQUESTR.NLM, THREADS.NLM, NETNLM32.NLM etc). The latest legacy libraries can still be found in the NWLIB6J.EXE patch and it does have a modular install so only legacy libraries could be installed is desired.

Technical Support Information:
Refer to History.txt for previous changes. This shows changes in the library suite (LIBC / CLIB / DSAPI ) but moving forward we will release the libraries separately

Changes since NWLIB6J.EXE
- Fixed a couple problems in Exec().
- Fixed sleep to track the time slept and return the difference when a signal is received.
- Fixed a performance problem seen by applications doing I/O through LIBC after applying NWLIB6j.exe patch.
- Two calls to RenderLegacyPath() were bad parameters, causing the function to abend in strcpy.
