This update to the Novell Single Sign-on (NSSO) Client DLL is provided to work
with the latest NSSO NDK components and the latest application connector
updates provided on the Single Sign-on home page
(http://www.novell.com/products/sso/). Although it implements minor updates to
the NSSO API, it is 
compatible with most application connectors.

1.0 Introduction

This update to the Novell Single Sign-on (NSSO) Client DLL is
provided to work with the latest NSSO NDK components and the 
latest application connector updates provided on the Single
Sign-on home page (http://www.novell.com/products/sso/). 
Although it implements minor updates to the NSSO API, it is 
compatible with most application connectors. 

Additionally, this update can enable stronger encryption 
across-the-wire for customers authorized to use 128-bit 3DES 
strength NICI (Novell International Cryptographic Infrastructure). 
Instead of linking 56-bit DES client NICI code into the DLL, 
this version of the NSSO client dynamically links to whichever 
version of NICI is installed on the workstation. 


2.0  Determining Client DLL Version

Versions of the client DLL may be determined by file date:

06-21-99 - Shipping 1.0 DLL
12-13-99 - Version 1.0i/1.1 DLL

Note: Version info will be added to all Single Sign-on components
in the next release.



3.0 Workstation Prerequisites

You must install the Novell Single Sign-on client software on a
workstation running Novell Client* for Windows** NT** version 4.5
or later, or Novell Client for Windows 95/98 version 3.0 or
later.

You must also install NICI (Novell International Cryptographic 
Infrastructure) version 1.5 or later on each workstation.
The appropriate version of NICI may be downloaded from:

	http://www.novell.com/products/cryptography/

To ensure access to the SecretStore, you will need to set as 
your primary tree the NDS tree containing the User object that 
will store the secrets. To do so,

1.  Right-click the Network Neighborhood icon.

2.  Select NetWare* Connections.

3.  Highlight the desired tree in the NetWare Connections
    dialog box and click Set Primary.


4.0 Installing the Updated Client DLL

The Novell Single Sign-on client software is installed to the
one of the following Windows system directories.

For Windows NT/2000:

    %SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32\

For Windows 95/98:

    %WINBOOTDIR%\SYSTEM

To install the updated Single Sign-on client DLL, simply copy
the included NWSSO.DLL file to the appropriate Windows system 
directory.

If you are using the Novell Client v4.7 for Windows NT/2000. Install the
updated NWGINA.DLL located in the WINNT/SYSTEM32 directory.


ISSUE: 

5.0  Software Change Notice
This update includes the following changes:

.   Support/requirement for dynamically-linked NICI 1.5.1 or later.
.   General Performance improvements specifically in locating the 
    service on the Network.
.   The SSO client will now ping the Preferred Server before
    walking the tree to locate the SecretStore Service.
.   Forward compatilibity support added for upcoming NSSO 2.0 
    SecretStore Service. 
.   The SSO API now limits the size of each secret to 
    approximately 3.5k. 
.   The SSO API now supports strings already in UNICODE format.
.   Exported _stdcall wrappers provide better Java and Visual Basic
    Wrapper interface.
.   API added to discover client and server software versions
    and their crypto policy strengths.
