ABSTRACT:

This file contains the NWPA.NLM versions from Support Pack 2 for NetWare 6.0,
and Support Pack 5 for NetWare 5.1.  It is provided here to make working around
some hang issues when installing on certain hardware platforms that require the
newer NWPA.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Create a directory named C:\NWUPDATE on the server's hard drive. Copy the
appropriate version of NWPA.NLM from this patch into the C:\NWUPDATE directory.
(\6.0\NWPA.NLM for NetWare 6.0 installations and \5.1\NWPA.NLM for NetWare 5.1
installations.  Complete the NetWare server install as directed in the NetWare
Documentation.  It is then recommended that you apply the current support pack.


ISSUE: 

The file server may hang when performing an initial installation of a NetWare
5.1 or NetWare 6.0 server. The problem may be a compatibility issue between the
SCSI Host adapter chip set and the version of NWPA.NLM being used. This problem
has been observed on hardware which uses the LSIMPTNW storage driver.  This
driver/chipset requires features found in this version of NWPA in order to work
properly. You will see the problem if you are using a redbox shipping CD of
NetWare 5.1 or NetWare 6.0.  Placing this version NWPA.NLM in the \NWUPDATE
directory before attempting the installation will cause this version of
NWPA.NLM to be loaded thus avoiding the compatibilty problems.   

An alternative solution is to use a overlay CD with the NetWare 6.0 Support
Pack 2 or the NetWare 5.1 Support Pack 5 already integrated.  An ISO images of
the overlay CDs may be downloaded from Support.Novell.com.
