ABSTRACT:

This file contains updates for the Novell Client 2.71 for DOS/Windows 3.x
(February 1999 Release).  Specifically, it contains NIOS.EXE dated 3-11-99 that
allows loading of the Novell Client for DOS/Windows NLMs from CDROM and an
INSTMEM.EXE that allows NetWare/IP to be installed on NEC PC98 computers.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Steps to install NIOS.EXE:
1. Make a backup copy of the NIOS.EXE.
2. Replace the NIOS.EXE with the updated NIOS.EXE from this file.
3. Load the NIOS.EXE from the DOS boot diskette or recreate (re-burn) the CD
with the new NIOS.EXE on it.

Steps to install INSTMEM.EXE:
1. Make a backup copy of the INSTMEM.EXE.
2. Go to the directory that contains the Novell Client source files and replace
the INSTMEM.EXE with the updated INSTMEM.EXE from this file.
3. Run the DOS Install.exe program to install the Novell Client with the
NetWare/IP option. 


ISSUE: 

TID 2949609 - Unable to load DOS Client from CDROM

The Novell Client files had been copied to (burned onto) a CD-ROM disk.  After
booting to DOS, loading CDROM drivers, and trying to run the Novell Client 2.6
(or later) for DOS / Windows 3.x from the CD, the Client would return errors
when trying to load the Client NLM files.  

For example, after the NIOS.exe loaded, the following error occurred:

\\.D\.A\Startnet\nbic32.nlm cannot be loaded.  File not found. 


TID 2950137 - Unable to Install NWIP on NEC PC98

NetWare/IP Stack could not install to NEC PC98 (MS-DOS only) environment.

The error message is:  

ErrorReport: TEXTUTIL-INSTALL-2.70-18

The system could not allocate addtional memory.
