Due to changes in export laws, this edition is available for use on servers within the U.S. and most countries worldwide. 2.0 Prerequisites NICI Crypto Upgrade works on any NetWare 5 or 5.1 server. On NetWare 5, we recommend that you install Support Pack 2 before installing this upgrade. 3.0 Installing on a NetWare Server This procedure installs the NICI Crypto Upgrade from the NICI_xx.EXE file you downloaded from the Novell Web site. The installation updates your current version of NICI to version 1.5.7. 3.1 Extracting the Compressed Files 1. Enter NICI156.EXE 2. If you accept the agreement, the files are copied to appropriate destination directories on the server. 5. When prompted that the installation was successful, press . 6. When prompted that the installation is complete, notify all logged-in users to log out, and then restart the server. ISSUE: 4.0 Resolving NICI Upgrade Problems 4.1 NetWare 5 or 5.1 Platforms If you have installed either the U.S./Worldwide or Import Restricted editions but are experiencing problems with any of the security services or with IP packet signatures, this may be due to the improper installation of the cryptographic modules. These problems may be resolved by doing the following: 1. Copy file xxxxxxxx.NFK from your License disk to file SYS:SYSTEM\NICIFK. on your server. 2. Down the Server. 3. Change to the server startup directory (typically C:\NWSERVER). 4. If the file DOMXENG.XLM is found, copy it into the NOVXENG.XLM file. Otherwise, if the file EXPXENG.XLM is found, copy it into NOVXENG.XLM file. 5. Restart the server. This should resolve most problems.
