Create a directory for the build area. 2. Copy the NetWare 5 CD to the root of the build area. 3. Create a directory under the PRODUCTS directory of the CD build area named "NW5SP" for the Support Pack files. 4. Copy the Support Pack to the CD build area so that SPACK.IPS is in the "NW5SP" directory. 5. Copy AUTO.ICS to \SYS\SYSTEM directory of the NetWare5 CD build area. 6. Copy SILENT1.ILS to the \NW5SP\INSTALL\4 directory of the Support Pack build area. 6.1. SILENT.ILS vs SILENT1.ILS, The only difference between the two files is SILENT.ILS has a CLASS of OPTIONAL and SILENT1.ILS has a CLASS of MANDATORY. 7. Copy SPACK.NI to the ROOT of the CD build area. 8. Copy FRONTEND.BAT to the ROOT of the CD build area. 9. Copy BACKEND.BAT to the ROOT of the CD build area. 10. Burn CD, CD Name Must Be "NETWARE5" Theory of operations: The response file use with INSTALL has a key "Close Script", which starts AUTO.ICS located in the new serer SYS:\SYSTEM directory. The script with confirm the source location and ask you to login again if you installed across the network. Otherwise it will only confirm the NETWARE5: CD-ROM as the source location. Then SPACK.IPS will be executed. It is also possible to test the process with out having to go through a complete install each time by load in NWCONFIG.NLM in batch mode. Example: LOAD NWCONFIG B=SYS:\SYSTEM\AUTO.ICS 1- Start the NetWare 5 install with the following Response file switch as follows: INSTALL /RF=D:\SPACK.NI 2- FRONTEND.BAT will patch at the front of the install and also at the end. 3- BACKEND.BAT will install the Support Pack only at end of the NetWare 5 installation. 4- The NetWare5 installation may displays a message that indicates there is a file conflict, answer NO "do not overwrite ALL older files. 5- When the NetWare 5 installation is complete, a NUT interface will be displayed on the screen for confirmation of the path to the Support Pack. The default path will be: NETWARE5:\INSTALL\NLS\4. If installing from the CD locally press "ENTER" to continue. Note: this screen can be disable in the response file. See SPACK.NI for example. 6- NOTE: The Support Pack could also be on another server on the LAN. If the path is on the LAN, a second screen will be presented for authentication. 7- A message will be displayed informing that Java must unloaded. Press ENTER to continue. 8- When the Support Pack has been copied, the NUT interface will close. 9- Use the console command "DOWN" to down the server. Do not use "RESTART SERVER" this time! The new SERVER.EXE needs to execute.... ISSUE: files to help install the support pack at the same time the server is installed.
