ABSTRACT:

NAL 2.01 updates for SnapShot and NAL Explorer. This download file includes
fixes for 601 error when creating application objects using AOT files and
partially extended schema problems. Also included, is an AOTDUMP utility. These
files have not been System Tested by Novell.

NAL 2.01 is not the current version. To download the current version of NAL,
which is included with the Novell Clients and ZENworks, go to

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

On the server(s) where NAL 2.01 was installed, copy the files into the
following subdirectories (default directories shown):

From \SNAPSHOT\, copy

SNAPPE16.EXE  to SYS:PUBLIC\SNAPSHOT\
SNAPPE32.EXE  to SYS:PUBLIC\SNAPSHOT\
DVJRES16.DLL  to SYS:PUBLIC\SNAPSHOT\NLS\ENGLISH\
DVJRES32.DLL  to SYS:PUBLIC\SNAPSHOT\NLS\ENGLISH\

Note:  For SnapShot to run correctly, the above files may also need to be
copied to the administrator's Workstation (C:\SNAPSHOT, for example).

From \NALEXP\, copy

NALEXPLD.EXE  to SYS:PUBLIC\
NALEXP32.DLL  to SYS:PUBLIC\
NALEXPRS.DLL  to SYS:PUBLIC\NLS\ENGLISH\

From \ADMIN\, copy

NWAPP32.DLL  to SYS:PUBLIC\ and SYS:PUBLIC\WIN95\ and SYS:PUBLIC\WINNT\
APPSNP95.DLL to SYS:PUBLIC\WIN95\
APPSNPNT.DLL to SYS:PUBLIC\WINNT\

The following files do not need to be copied to a specific directory:

ISSUE: 

SnAppShot Fixes:

TID 2928711  Windows 3.1x Registry (REG.DAT) search/scan fails.
TID 2928235  GroupWise 5.1 Client Notify Changes missing from AOT files.
TID 2930171  Problems updating the WIN.INI file.



NAL Explorer Fixes:

TID 2934417  Running NAL Explorer on Windows NT, sometimes, all virtual memory
is consumed (memory leak).

TID 2931062  Running NAL Explorer, application objects sometimes disappear.

TID 2930372  NAL Explorer allows multiple installation apps to run
simultanesously even though the support libraries are single threaded.  NAL
Explorer should prevent other apps from running when an installation or
distribution is occurring.



Administrator Fixes:

TID 2932387  When creating an application object using an AOT file, NWAdmin
returns a 601 error. 

TID 2932266  Schema is partially extended.  Loading NWADMN95 and trying to
modify the schema,  the error "Application snapin warning:  Error -615  The
schema on tree <treename> could not be updated" is returned.  Running
SETUPNAL.EXE again, it indicates that the schema has not been extended to 2.0
and tries to extend it but fails every time.



Extras:

AOTDUMP.EXE
AOTDUMP takes the contents of an .AOT file and dumps it to a text file with an
.AXT extension.  This is helpful for viewing the contents of an .AOT file, but
no further compatibiliy or functionality is available.  AOTDUMP is not an
officially supported Novell product or tool, but can be used at your own risk. 
For syntax information, type AOTDUMP /?.  AOTDUMP is a Win32 Console
application (i.e., it can only run on Windows 95 or Windows NT).



DEFSNP95.REG & DEFSNPNT.REG Files
These files are .REG files that contain all of the 'default' snap-ins for
NWAdmin v4.11. DEFSNP95.REG is for a Windows 95 workstation and DEFSNPNT.REG is
for a Windows NT workstation. When these files are run, they modify the
registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NetWare\Parameters\NetWare
Administrator and add the default snap-ins for NWAdmin. They will not replace
or overwrite any existing snap-ins, but they will reset the default snap-ins to
the default location (i.e., the snap-in DLLs will load from the NWAdmin load
directory). These .REG files are useful if the NAL administrator runs NWAdmin
and is unable to manage Application objects because the have a ? next to them.

Note:  You can type the .REG files to see what registry changes will be made.
