NOVELL TECHNICAL INFORMATION DOCUMENT TITLE: 41RTR2.EXE;NetWare 4.1 SFTIII Protocol Update README FOR: 41RTR2.EXE NOVELL PRODUCTS and VERSIONS: NetWare SFT III 4.1 ABSTRACT: 41RTR2.EXE contains the current protocol related files for NetWare 4.1 SFT III servers. (TCP/IP, AppleTalk, IPXRTR, & INETCFG) NOTE: This is the same 41RTR2.EXE that was available earlier. ----------------------------------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER THE ORIGIN OF THIS INFORMATION MAY BE INTERNAL OR EXTERNAL TO NOVELL. Server abend if transmissions were still pending when AURP unloaded. Now waits up to five minutes for transmissions to complete before unloading. 2. Server abend because ADSP released an invalid memory resource. 3. IPXRTRNM abend. 4. IPXCON did not display a level 2 neighbor. 5. IPXCFG did not set the frame type incorrectly for IPX if the default was not selected. AppleTalk --------- 6. Hung or aborted print jobs for applications using the AppleTalk 3.x APIs. 7. Possible invalid DDP checksum of 0xFFFF transmitted when DDP checksums are enabled. TCP/IP ------ 8. Directed broadcasts forwarded in only one direction. 9. Depending on the order in which the filters were set, a route filter exception could be ignored. 10. A possible page fault if a TCP or UDP stream is aborted while data is in transmission. 11. A race condition that might cause an abend when running SFT III on a large IP internet. IPXRTR ------ 12. The SAP from a print server was not aged out if RIP and SAP were operating in AUTO mode. 13. Wildcard filters were applied inappropriately to the source of the packet to all interfaces. 14. Even with SET REPLY TO GET NEAREST SERVER option was off, Get Nearest Server requests resulted in a response from the nearest Directory Server. 15. Load Balancing not working. NEW FEATURES 1. Improved error detection when using AppleTalk. 2. Bridging can now work concurrently over X.25 and Frame Relay. 3. INETCFG now has improved conversion of load commands from NetWare for Macintosh to the INETCFG database. 4. LAN Network Manager (LNM) functionality. 5. TCPIP now supports OSPF on SFT III IO Engines. The Autonomous System Boundary Router parameter must be enabled in the OSPF configuration. Use INETCFG to enable and configure OSPF. 6. Routes learned from SNMP will now be advertised by the IP routing protocol. 7. NLSP can now switch automatically from broadcast to multicast, when all NLSP nodes on the LAN support multicast. This patch is only for NetWare 4.1 SFT III servers. 2. Make a backup copy of each .NLM file and .MSG file that will be replaced. 3. Copy the .NLM files, in 41RTR2.EXE, to SYS:SYSTEM. NOTE: BRIDGE.NLM, PARSER.NLM, and LLC8022.NLM are required only on NetWare for OS/2 servers. 4. Copy the .MSG files, in 41RTR2.EXE, to SYS:SYSTEM\NLS\4. 5. To use Load Balancing, read BALANCE.TXT. NOTE: Before you install any NetWare for SAA patches, check the current version of LLC8022. Be sure to make a backup of LLC8022 before installing any NetWare for SAA patches. (Some SAA patches incorrectly overwrite newer versions of LLC8022. If this happens, restore the backup.) ----------------------------------------------------------------- Any trademarks referenced in this document are the property of their respective owners.
