SYMPTOM

An auditing problem occurs where high utilization occurs on NetWare 4.01.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Auditing has been enabled followed by high utilization.

CAUSE

When auditing runs up against an invalid object, it goes into a loop retrying
to audit that object

SYMPTOM

Problems occur when synchronizing with remote servers.

SYMPTOM

Problems occur with the split and join process.

SYMPTOM

A login and password problem occurs with Telephony Services.

SOLUTION

Update NetWare Directory Services to version 310 by applying the files in
UPD310.EXE.

Installation Instructions:

1. The UPD310.EXE file removes the old version of NetWare Directory Services
(NDS) out of SERVER.EXE and inserts the new version in place of it.

   To do this, place UPD310.EXE in the same directory as SERVER.EXE and type
"UPD310".  The following text will be displayed on screen.

   (C) Copyright 1993 Novell, Inc.
   All Rights Reserved.

   Updating SERVER.EXE:DS.NLM from v4.01 (6/23/93) to v4.02(6/06/94)

   Old server is SERVER.OLD
   Updated server is SERVER.EXE

2. UPD310 copies the original SERVER.EXE to SERVER.OLD then patches
SERVER.EXE.  If you want to revert to the original version of NetWare
Directory Services, rename SERVER.OLD to an .EXE extension then execute that
program.

3. Because Novell licensing is not handled through the SERVER.EXE file, you
can copy it to all the file servers in the tree.
