1.0 Issues Resolved in Maintenance Update 5

The following issues have been resolved in Maintenance Update 5:

• Fixed a problem when creating a user using a template object
      This issue only happens when the template is synchronized through DirXML and a
      user is created with that template.  Users would get the templates association
      value as their own and then anytime a user was modified it synchronized the change
      to the template not the user.  This problem does not exist when ConsoleOne is used
      to create the object with the template object.

• Fixed a problem with a Help file
      When you go into iManager - Users - Modify Users - General - Environment - Default Server -
      Click on Help - it referenced message server not default server.

• Fixed a problem with modifying multiple users using a task created via the Plug-in Studio.
      The error code generated was:
      org.jdom.input.JDOMParseException: Error on line 1: Whitespace required before attributes.

2.0 Issues Resolved in Maintenance Update 4

The following issues have been resolved in Maintenance Update 4:

• Fixed Home Directory problem
      Users created from a template were not given the correct rights for their home directory from the template but
      instead were given the default rights. The fix gives the user the correct rights for their home directory from the
      template.
• Fixed Japanese translation problem
      Fixed problem in Japanese message that says password was NOT changed correctly when in fact it was correctly changed.
• Fixed HostNameVerfier problem
      Fixed problem verifying host name when URL contains a port or is a wildcard hostname.

3.0 Issues Resolved in Maintenance Update 3

The following issues have been resolved in Maintenance Update 3:

• Removed certain non-essential JSP documents to help prevent the unintended execution of verbose operations.
• Modified the Novell^® eGuide plug-in to allow for the proper functioning of Role-Based Services (RBS).
• Made fixes to the Portal Secret Store to allow changes with forgotten and changed passwords.
• Added ICSPostLogoutURL functionality to the iManager 2.0.2 authenticator gadget.
• All items listed in section 2.0 of this document, "Issues Resolved in Maintenance Update 2."

4.0 Issues Resolved in Maintenance Update 2

The following issues were resolved in Maintenance Update 2:

• Added custom Java* code to the Create Task feature.
• All items listed in section 3.0 of this document, "Issues Resolved in Maintenance Update 1."

5.0 Issues Resolved in Maintenance Update 1

The following issues were resolved in Maintenance Update 1:

• getDirPropertyBook is now valid during shouldShow() implementation for property book page.
• Ability to assign objects to eGuide Self Management role in iManager now functions properly.
• Added a "printer-control_plugin" entry in Registry.java and GlobalRegistry.java to support third party printer control plug-ins.
• The host name verifier now allows its own host name.
• When editing or viewing an attribute with many values, the "Other Page" in iManager now displays all relevant values.
• The Modules Admin gadget now displays the module version information on the screen.
• Each iManager server in the tree now accurately displays the iManager version installed.
• When using the "Create Class Wizard," all container classes now display properly.

IMPORTANT:   Various files in the ".../Tomcat/work/standalone/localhost/nps/" folder will be changed due to the application of the maintenance update, including many of the compiled JSPs. If you want to restore your system back to the pre-maintenance update state, do one of the following:

1) Backup the ".../Tomcat/work/standalone/localhost/nps/" folder before installing the maintenance update and restore it when removing the maintenance update.

2) Delete or rename this folder when removing the maintenance update, which will force the .JSPs to be compiled as needed.

7.0 Downloading and Installing an iManager Maintenance Update

IMPORTANT:  iManager maintenance updates do not make a backup of files replaced.

Also, iManager maintenance updates must be installed on all iManager servers in your environment. Maintenance updates do not get automatically replicated to other iManager servers in your tree. To see if the maintenance update has been installed on the server, view the iManager information page by clicking on the words "Novell iManager" in the upper-left corner of the iManager application window.

To download and install an iManager maintenance update:

EXTRACT THE FILE
For Windows and Netware servers use a windows decompression utility that supports tgz, I.E. WinZip to extract iman202mu5.tgz to a temporary directory on the server on which the patch will be applied.

For Unix servers, use gzip and tar to decompress and extract the tarball to a temporary directory on which the patch will be applied.
(I.E. gzip -d -c iman202mu5.tgz | tar xvf - )

NOTE:  Maintenance update files, like plug-ins, are packaged in modules (NPMs). Those modules are capable of containing one or more maintenance updates.  This Maintenance Update patch is a comprehensive patch and includes all fixes from previous Maintenance Update patches.

1. Log in to iManager.

2. Click the Configure button.

3. Click iManager Configuration > Modules, then click Install to install the module package.

4. Select the maintenance update file iMan202_5.npm file to install.

   This install will take a few minutes.

   NOTE:  Internet Explorer may append a .ZIP extension to the .NPM when it is downloaded. Do not unzip the file; the Plugin Module file (NPM) can be successfully installed regardless of the extension on the file.
    

5. Restart Tomcat.

   NOTE:  Tomcat sometimes requires several minutes to fully initialize. Wait a few minutes before trying to log into iManager after restarting Tomcat.

   PLATFORM	RESTART COMMAND
   NetWare® 6 or later	Enter TC4STOP. Wait at least 1 minute, then enter TOMCAT4 to start the service again.
   Windows*	Stop and start the Tomcat service.
   Solaris*	Enter /var/opt/novell/tomcat4/bin/shutdown.sh, then enter /var/opt/novell/tomcat4/bin/startup.sh.
   HP-UX*	Enter /opt/hpws/tomcat/bin/shutdown.sh, then enter /opt/hpws/tomcat/bin/startup.sh.
   Linux	Enter /etc/init.d/novell-tomcat4 stop, then enter /etc/init.d/novell-tomcat4 start.

6. Verify that the new maintenance update has been installed.

   This can be done by checking the log file located in the webapps/nps/WEB-INF/changelog directory or by viewing the list located on the iManager information screen (click "Novell iManager" in the upper-left corner of the application window).

8.0 IIS File Upload Error During Install

An "Unexpected end of part" error may be encountered during the iManager maintenance update install when running iManager on a Windows IIS Web server with Tomcat. This is due to a known issue with uploading files through the Tomcat redirector for IIS. To successfully run the iManager maintenance update install, connect to iManager directly through the Tomcat HTTP server (typically on port 8080). For example, http://ip_address:8080/nps/iManager.html.

IMPORTANT:  This workaround is only suggested to be used to install the iManager maintenance update and for other cases where it is necessary to bypass the Web server and servlet redirector. This method of accessing iManager is not recommended for everyday use.
