LDAP Profile Add Connection

Use this property page to add an LDAP server connection to the LDAP profile for your Messenger system.

Host Address

IP Address
Specify the IP address of the LDAP server.

DNS Hostname
Specify the DNS hostname of the LDAP server.

Port
Specify the port on which the LDAP server listens for service requests. Typically, LDAP servers use port 389 for non-SSL connections and port 636 for SSL connections.

Preference
Specify the preference (priority) of this LDAP connection. Valid Preference entries are 0, 1, and 2. The Messenger agents will contact priority 0 LDAP servers first, followed by priority 1 LDAP servers, followed by priority 2 LDAP servers.

Security Information

SSL Enabled
Select this option if the LDAP server uses SSL encryption.

Root Certificate
Browse to and select the SSL certificate of the LDAP server. Typically, the root certificate is named rootcert.der. On a NetWare® server, it is located in sys:\public. On a Windows* or Linux server, it is exported to a user-specified location after installation of eDirectory.

If you do not specify a root certificate, your LDAP server must be configured to accept clear text passwords in order for you to enable SSL without a root certificate.
