Use this property page to specify the LDAP servers that are available to the Messenger agents when using LDAP access to Novell® eDirectoryTM.
After you change settings on the Connections page, restart the Messenger agents to put the new settings into effect.
Connection Settings
Default Connections
Specify the number of connections that each Messenger agent establishes with each LDAP server on startup and maintains even when connections are idle. The connections between the Messenger agents and an LDAP server are used to authenticate Messenger users when they start the Messenger client, to perform searches for Messenger users when users build their contact lists, to save user option settings for the Messenger client, to search the Messenger archive, and for other directory-based operations. The default number is 10.Idle connections occupy memory, but using an existing connection is faster than creating a new connection. The default number of connections is always kept open, even if they are idle.
Idle Timeout
Specify in seconds how long a connection between a Messenger agent and an LDAP server should remain open if it is idle. The default amount of time is 30 seconds.Maximum Connections
Specify the maximum number of connections that can exist between a Messenger agent and each LDAP server. The default number is 30.
