Novell Messenger Archive

This property page specifies archiving setup and maintenance information. The Messenger archive is a corporate-level archive of all conversations. Only authorized users, as defined on the Archive ACL page, can search the archive.

After you change settings on the Archive page, restart the Archive Agent to put the new settings into effect.

Master Archive Agent
Browse to and select the Archive Agent for your Messenger system.

Passphrase
A passphrase is used for encrypting archived conversations. A passphrase is generally longer than 7 characters and can be up to 100 characters. A random passphrase is generated by default. You can provide a different passphrase if desired.

This option can also be set on the Archive property page of the Archive Agent object. The setting on the Archive Agent object overrides the setting on the Messenger system object.

Session Timeout
Specify the number of minutes to wait before closing an idle archive session.

A conversation is archived when it is ended. A conference is archived whenever someone joins or leaves the conference, as well as when the conference is ended. The default archive session timeout is 5 minutes. After the archive session times out, unarchived information is saved to the archive and the archive session is closed.

Store Maintenance
The store maintenance settings control when old conversations should be expired and deleted from the Messenger archive and when the expiration process should take place.

Delay
Specify how many hours after 12:00 midnight you want expiration to occur. By default, Delay is set to 2, which means expiration will occur at 2:00 a.m. every day.

Interval
Specify how often to check for expired conversations, starting at the time specified in Delay. The default is every 4 hours.

Expire
Specify the number of days an archived conversation will be kept before it is expired and deleted. The default is 90 days. If you specify 0 (zero), archived conversations will be retained indefinitely.

This option can also be set on the Archive property page of the Archive Agent object. The setting on the Archive Agent object overrides the setting on the Messenger system object.
