Novell Messenger Client Update

This property page specifies information about the version of the Messenger client you want to require your users to install. Leave the Version and Date fields blank if you do not want to require users to update when a new version of the software becomes available.

After you change settings on the Client Update page, restart the Messaging Agent to put the new settings into effect.

Version
Type the minimum version number if updating is required.

Date
Select the date of the minimum version if updating is required.

Grace Logins
If updating is required, specify the number of times a user can log in to the Messenger system before he or she is forced to update to the version of the client specified above.

Enable Client Download Through a Browser
Select this option if you want users to be able to download the Messenger client from the Novell® Messenger download page at:

http:\\Mesenger_server_address:agent_port

where Messenger_server_address is the IP address or DNS host name of the server where the Messaging Agent is running and agent_port is the Messaging Agent client/server port.

By selecting this option, you also enable AutoUpdate, so that the Messenger client prompts users to update whenever new client software is available. If this setting is deselected, AutoUpdate cannot occur.

This option can also be set on the Messaging property page of the Messaging Agent object.

Update Message
Type the message you want to display when you prompt users to update the Messenger client.

Client Download URLs
Specify a list of URLs that the user's browser or the Messenger client will be redirected to when attempting to download the updated client software. The URLs will be tried in the order you list them. Make sure that the Messenger nvlmsgr.exe file is available for download from each URL in the list.
