MESSAGING SERVICES SOFTWARE

NetWare Global MHS

Now in its fifth generation, NetWare Global MHS is the reliable, time-tested NetWare messaging solution. As a scalable messaging server, NetWare Global MHS is ideal for environments ranging from small businesses to large, diverse computing enterprises. NetWare Global MHS provides businesses with a smooth migration path as their messaging systems evolve from legacy systems to today's distributed store-and-forward solutions.

NetWare Global MHS consists of a set of NetWare Loadable Modules (NLMs) that combine with the NetWare network operating system (NOS) to provide a cost-effective messaging platform. NetWare Global MHS provides a broadly supported, fully open platform that delivers store-and-forward capabilities, which support a wide variety of messaging services. Today there are more than 150 commercial electronic-mail, workflow automation, calendaring and scheduling, and fax service applications running on NetWare Global MHS.

Features

Fully Integrated With the NetWare NOS

NetWare Global MHS is the only messaging solution that is fully integrated with the NetWare NOS. NetWare Global MHS uses all of the features of the NetWare NOS including security, connectivity, fault tolerance and 32-bit operation to provide unsurpassed performance and reliability in a messaging environment. Managing NetWare Global MHS is simple. Because it runs on the NetWare server, NetWare Global MHS is managed using the same access tools used to manage the server itself. No other messaging solution offers this level of integration because no other messaging solution runs on the NetWare NOS.

Wide Choice of Applications, Gateways and Services

Customers can choose from more than 150 commercially available applications, gateways and utilities compatible with NetWare MHS, including products for DOS, MS Windows, Macintosh, OS/2 and UNIX operating systems. NetWare Global MHS also includes 0FirstMail for both DOS and Macintosh platforms. FirstMail is an entry-level E-mail utility that delivers a NetWare MHS messaging solution right out of the box. The NetWare MHS Driver for MS Mail, included with NetWare Global MHS, gives users of MS Mail for Windows complete access to the power of all NetWare messaging and directory services, without the need for a gateway. These MS Mail users can fully communicate with users of other NetWare MHS applications. NetWare Global MHS makes this compatibility transparent to the user.

Cost-Effective Message Handling Solutions

NetWare Global MHS is designed to be the foundation for future growth. The number of mailboxes and messaging servers can be chosen to suit specific needs--from a single server to a network of servers supporting a diversified multiplatform environment. This is a cost-effective solution for small offices planning for future growth, as well as for large offices building a worldwide messaging infrastructure.

Comprehensive Addressing Support

NetWare Global MHS enables flexible addressing by including built-in directory support for networks running the NetWare 3 or NetWare 4 NOS. This support makes it easy to route messages and implement workgroup-to-workgroup connectivity.

The built-in directory support also simplifies system administration by ensuring that consistent addressing information is available on multiple platforms and in all locations throughout the network. This is especially important when migrating users from one platform to another or moving to a decentralized network environment.

Automatic Directory Synchronization

In a distributed computing environment, consistent user address information across servers is critical. Directory synchronization simplifies messaging system administration and keeps information on each messaging server consistent. With NetWare Global MHS, the directory database is distributed and replicated across multiple servers and automatically updated whenever a change occurs.

Powerful Tools for System Administration

NetWare Global MHS provides the tools needed to add NetWare users, create messaging users from the NetWare bindery and organize users on directories. NetWare Global MHS enables network supervisors to configure network communications, monitor local server performance, manage disk space and handle error reports. The administrative screens have the familiar NetWare menuing system look and feel, and can be accessed remotely through NetWare utilities.

Connectivity to Microsoft Mail for Windows

The NetWare MHS Driver for MS Mail is a NetWare Global MHS enhancement that gives MS Mail for Windows users full, direct access to the power of all NetWare messaging and directory services, without the need for a gateway. MS Mail users have the freedom to use MS Mail in conjunction with any of the more than 150 native NetWare Global MHS applications. The NetWare MHS Driver for Microsoft Mail is available free of charge. For more information call the Messaging Hotline at 1-408-473-8989.
