ConsoleOne 1.2d Support Pack 1 Download Information (Windows/NetWare)

Overview

ConsoleOne is a Java utility that lets you manage NDS objects, schema, partitions, replicas, and NetWare server resources. Additional capabilities are added to ConsoleOne if you install other Novell products. For example, if you install NDS eDirectory, LDAP management capabilities are added.

Hint: You should install ConsoleOne to an NDS server if you plan to use other Novell products that add capabilities to ConsoleOne.

ConsoleOne 1.2d replaces all previous versions and adds the following new capabilities:

Operating System

One of the following (or later) releases:

  • Windows 95/98 with Novell Client 3.2
  • Windows NT/2000 with Novell Client 4.7
  • NetWare 5 Support Pack 3

Note: You can get Novell clients from the Novell Free Downloads Site. You can get NetWare support packs from the Minimum Patch List Site.

RAM

Recommended: 128 MB (more will improve performance)
Minimum: 64 MB

Processor

Recommended: 200 MHz or faster

Disk Space

38 MB

Screen Resolution

Minimum: 800 x 600 with 256 colors

Installation

  1. If a previous version of ConsoleOne is running on the computer where you will install ConsoleOne, exit that version of ConsoleOne.
  2. If you will install ConsoleOne on a NetWare server, unload all Java processes and JAVA.NLM on that server.
    • To see the active Java processes, enter JAVA -SHOWALL at the console prompt.
    • To unload all Java processes, enter JAVA -KILLALL at the console prompt.
    • To unload JAVA.NLM, enter JAVA -EXIT at the console prompt.
  3. Download the ConsoleOne file(s) to a temporary location. If you download partial files, make sure to download EXTRACT.BAT as well.
  4. Double-click the C1_FULL.EXE or EXTRACT.BAT file that you just downloaded.
  5. In the extraction dialog box, choose a temporary, empty folder to extract the ConsoleOne files to, and then click Unzip. If you downloaded partial files, the extraction dialog box will reappear for each partial file that you need to extract. Make sure you extract to the same location each time.
  6. Double-click the SETUP.EXE file that you just extracted and follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation. When you are prompted to choose the location to install to, choose either a drive mapped to a server volume (recommended), or choose a local workstation drive.

Starting ConsoleOne on Windows

The steps to start ConsoleOne depend on where ConsoleOne is installed.

Installation Location Steps

NetWare volume

  1. Map a drive (with a letter, not a UNC path) to the NetWare volume.
  2. On the NetWare volume, browse to PUBLIC\MGMT\CONSOLEONE\1.2\BIN.
  3. Double-click CONSOLEONE.EXE.

Local hard disk

On the Windows desktop, double-click the ConsoleOne icon.

Starting ConsoleOne on NetWare

Depending on whether the server GUI is up, complete the appropriate steps:

  1. Switch to the GUI.
  2. Click Novell > ConsoleOne.

No

At the console prompt, enter C1START.
